Rivalry

[Reno]

She jumped down from the rooftop, hitting the grass, and falling into a crouch. She spun on her heels, without straighteing and pounced with great aglity, landing in front of the door with style. She straightened, looking around suspiciously then knocked on the door, feeling a bit silly. This used to BE her house why wouldn;t she just... walk in?

and what if mom and dad are... ewww! no good idea, knock, knock first!

[Jade]

Josh blinked looking back towards his house " somebodies here..."

"Yea... ill get it..." Tifa sighed walking past him and back into there home crossing through the kitchen and to the living room where she came to the door.

Slowly she opened it too see her youngest child " Ami! Oh my god you came!" She rushed into her daughter embrassing her giving her a hug " happy birthday sweety im so happy you came! I didnt think you where going to come!"

Josh blinked glancing back " Ami...?" slowly he walked into the house staring over in his daughters direction... it had been so long...

[Reno]

Ami started to blush in embaressment. "Mom, this is a nice way to start out the beginnings of my adulthood, you treating me like i'm eleven again." She was joking, partially. Then she sighed. "So i take it... you two weren;t going to come see me after all?" that REALLY hurt. That such an anomosity could tear such a speacial day from her away. it;s not like i never got used to it. She'd always been the one to see her parents on her birthdays, never the other way around (except her 12th because that day was spent with her father and ONLY her father) Sometimes she wondered though... did they love her?

[Jade]

"Of course we where dear, I was just about to drag your father out of the house to go see you right now, isnt that right dear?" she said sending a glare in Josh's direction.

Josh caught the glare but nodded " Yea... I wouldnt miss your 18th birthday for the world... thats a big number you know..." he walked up to his daughter and just stood there staring at her, he was never really too great at showing emotion and his kids new that... " I... I missed you Ami..."

[Reno]

Shje looked up at her father. He;d always been taller. She remebered way back when she was so young, so little and her dad used to just pick her up and she felt like she was flying. but now... she had her own wings and she could take flight whenever she wanted.

"Yeah i know dad." Ami smiled somewhat then blinked. "Oh before i forget, Aunt Rina says hi to both of you."

[Jade]

" Oh? yea I think she said she was going to stop by sometime this week to visit" Tifa said smiling slightly.

Josh scratched the back of his head " yea well... does this old man get a hug or...?" he laughed not really knowing what else to say

[Reno]

Ami smiled a bit. "old man? how can you be old you don;t age!" She hopped on him though, hugging him tightly with a laugh.

[Jade]

" Happy Birthday Ami... I love you..." he smiled wrapping his arms around her holding her close.

Tifa smiled staring at the two... if there was one thing that she knew for certain... that was that Josh loved his kids more than anything in the world. Especially the girls, he seemed to spoil them alot more than he did Tenks and Casey.

[Reno]

"Awe dad you're such a sap!" Ami giggled, looking up at him adoringly. It was these moments she forgot everything. All her anger and hidden pains and her hate towards her own sister. "I love you too."

[Jade]

" Its good to hear..." slowly he broke away, it was so nice seeing her again " I um... have a present for you" he said glancing back... hed been thinking about if for a long time... but was it safe? Giving her the dragonsblade... he new how much she admired the sword... but is purpose... the demons that it had trapped inside from the souls that it had devoured... was it safe to pass it onto his youngest daughter?

Tifa blinked staring at him oddly " you... do...?"

[Reno]

Ami looked at him, excitement in her eyes. "Really?!"

[Jade]

He nodded slightly walking up to the fireplace where the sword hung and pulled it down " Here... it did me alot of good when I was growing up and kept me safe..." he handed the sword over to her " I want it to do the same thing for you that it did for me..."

Tifa stared at Josh oddly... shed remembered how Tenks and Casey had always fought over who would own the sword... she never would have ever expected... "Josh...?"

[Reno]

Ami's jaw dropped open and she just... stared. "Dad you... you really mean it?!" Her eyes held more hope then she could possibly imagine. She knew of the stories how Tenks had begged for the sword, how casey had fought for attention, even Pann had given it interest and she KNEW Shouka would have loved to get her greasy hands on it...

but me... really? She looked up at her father, respectfully.

Tifa stared blankly at the sword, then Ami, and then Josh again, what in the world made him...?

" yea... happy birthday sweet heart..." he leaned down kissing her forehead " I knew you wanted it so... I wanted to give you something special this year..." truthfully it was probrably his jealously towards Sephiros that made him do it... he just wanted to be... the better dad... for once...

Ami stared then slowly, took the sword within her hands, staring down at it, then back at Josh. Tears filled her eyes and she grinned. "Dad i... i don;t know what to say." Now if that wasn;t cliched she didn;t know what was! "Thank you... oh dad thank you!" What was she supposed to say?! she had... she had the one thing no other child ever got, she felt... she felt...
