Axel smiled, pride in his heart as he got the compliment from the large Pokemon. "Thank you." He bowed his head some before he smiled as the baby dropped down and swam to them. They all looked down as the child resurfaced, his voice a pure joy to them all... and Terra as well even though he'd never admit it.
It was Fuu who looked away, looking around the city that once use to be bright and full of life. It was dead now... full of nothing but sorrow. She knew too... that all around the world, cities and towns suffered as well. Flooded... ruined.... gone. In Lavaridge's case, burned. They had a lot of work to do... and it was just starting.
The doors opened, letting the clean, but stale water out into the sea and allowing the baby to swim out as well as the rest of the group headed back up to the top. The red gyarados was captured in a transfer ball they found at the bottom of the waters along with other pokeballs that held the twins other abused pokemon. Even if the gyarados was calmed, he still needed a lot of help.
When they reached the top, all of the other pokemon headed up there as well before Ho-oh flew up and blasted down a powerful attack at the city. Sacred Fire. He was cremating those who had been slaughtered... and as the fire crackled all over the city, their ashes rose into the wind that Suicune provided. Every human and Pokemon lowered their heads, giving a moment of prayer for them.
The aches collected in the sky, a sort of majick in their appearance as they hit the clouds. Around everyone's feet, where Sacred Ash. It was collected in any bag that wasn't full for the ash, when used, revives all Pokémon in a trainer's party to their fullest potential. It was Ho-oh's gift to them. The other gift as that the legendaries were willing to give the group a lift back to where they needed to go... and it was their choice of who.
Sora, of course, jumped on Zapdos, the bird having apologized about what he had done... but said the plush he had was very... inaccurate. Aqua and Fuu easily chose the water dog, knowing that he was much better now due to his father's ash. It was easy for Ven to pick the rainbox pokemon, even if he didn't seem thrilled as Axel and Roxas had the honor to ride on Lugia herself as she swam close to her child.
They all went their separate ways, needing to get back to the ones they loved most.
Sora and Riku were dropped in Ever Grande City, looking for the Pokemon center that held their friends. They were given the flygon's pokeball to take... and return.
Aqua and Fuu ended up in Snowpoint to return Gary and Porcha. The blonde was so happy that he almost suffocated them as he gave them each a big hug. Saix was the one who saved their lives, congratulating them for all they done.
Ven and Terra were let off in Celestic Town where son and family were united, Ida giving Terra the biggest hug she had ever given him since he was a child, looking him over to make sure he was alright. He told him how proud she was... and how she and his father watched everything. They were offered inside and as Ven walked over, Ida looked down at him, a warm smile on her face. "That's a lovely Sandgem you have there, Ventus..."
Ven's eyes widened as he looked up at her, blush covering his face. "Heh.... t-thanks..." She nodded before bringing him close. "Your mother gave me something... the last time I saw her... and I want to share it with you." "Y-yea...?" "Yea..." She smiled, walking the blonde inside, closing the door before bringing him to a small box, opening it up to reveal some Venita merchandise.
Ven swallowed, some fear in his heart as one of the framed pictures were taken apart and a hidden letter fell out. Ida picked it up carefully before handing it to the boy. "Here... you should read this."
Axel and Roxas were dropped in the forest by Mauville City, the mother of the young child barred a quick goodbye for she had a lot of catching up to do with her son... and he needed to be fed! It wasn't a good good-bye though... because they didn't just say good-bye to one... but two legendaries. "Moltres..." The redhead swallowed as he hugged his long term friend. She too... was leaving. She wanted to watch and help her new master grow... and be with her siblings again. She was a legendary... and even if she cherished her time with Axel and his friends... she had a job to do.
She flew off and Axel was like stone, just watching her... even when she was out of their sight. It was Roxas who cooed him away. They needed to make sure Ninetails, Absol, Borva, Edana, Thad and Sanyue were alright along with Aunt Sera. Zan wanted to get home too... "Yea... just one moment. You guys go ahead." Axel smiled before looking back up at the sky as Roxas walked down the trail with Zan. "Thank you..." He spoke softly to the sky before turning and heading back to the pokecenter.
Once there, hugs were given all around as Pokemon pawed and licked one another. Sera kissed them both on the cheek, welcoming them back only for them to realized that she had watched their battle. She asked what that was all about... only for them to look at each other. "Looooong story." Sera chuckled before nodding. "Well... before we chit chat, I do have a problem."
Axel frowned, his attention being pulled from the happy Vulpix at his feet. "What it is?" "Those two." She pointed, making Roxas and Axel look over to see two toddlers playing with blocks in the corner. One was a boy with bright red hair as the other was a girl with blonde. "I found those two wondering the streets together, barely being able to walk as they held hands. They have no idea where their parents are... and no one has seen them around since the fire in Lavaridge. I'm going to have to say that... they were the first of the only casualties..."
Frowns ran over Axel and Roxas's face, realizing that what Lugia had done did more than ruin people's homes... but families too. There were going to be a lot of orphans and lost family members. "Do you have a good idea on what to do with them?" The woman asked, sighing softly. The two looked at the kids playing, sad pouts on their faces though they tried to cheer each other up the best they could as they played with the blocks.
Slowly, their heads turned before eyes met, both sharing a soft smile. "Yea... I know what we'll do with them, Aunt Sera..." Axel said softly as he reached for Roxas's hand, rubbing it softly as their engagement rings rubbed together.

OOC: Longest ending yet!
As the sky turned gray outside as the sun fell away and twilight lit the night, four couples spread at what seemed like four corners of the world. In one corner, in a town blanketed in flowers now long asleep after their light had disappeared were two men still waiting dutifully at a Pokemon center. One, however, had not quite been able to stay awake, his body stretched out some along the cushiony bench, his head laying in the other's lap, his breathes coming out even and slow. A jacket had been pulled over his shoulders as a make-shift blanket and thin-wired glasses lovingly placed aside. The day had been long and rough; so much for taking it easy like the doctor ordered. The poor 'pillow' of the man's didn't even seem to mind he couldn't get up if he wanted to. In fact he seemed rather content as his relaxed against the back of the cushiony bench, fingers soothingly ran through soft brunette spikes. The only thing that gave away his agitation was the ever so often glance towards the clock on the wall, a frown marring his face in dissatisfaction. The two Pokemon they had let out lay obediently at their feet, waiting as well. However, like his master, the spiky yellow fox was exhausted, his head laying against the black fox's back as he slept. The brother did his best not to move to much and disturb him, his eyes looking up towards his own master, feeling his worry and impatience. "Bre..." Under the bright lights of the room, honey brown eyes opened tiredly, finding it hard to sleep with the pain in her leg. "Punny..." The creature lifted herself, brushing one of her long ears back like they were strands of hair, looking about the room. Something else had awoken her - a sound. She heard it again, a faint nose down the hall, like a sparking whir. She blinked, looking around the room but there was no one else here but Scizor, whose wings and claws had been bandages and he was contently dozing underneath a lamp that emitted heat. She frowned a little, before setting her feet down on the cold tale, gingerly stepping on the right one. Her claws curled a little and she whimpered some at the slight pain but managed to hop to her feet, limping a little. She used the wall as support, carefully limping down the hall her big ears easily picking up the noise as it got louder. She came to a window in the wall, and peeked around it carefully. "Lo...punny?" It was a strange sight as she watched the pink-haired nurse she had only seen briefly and the egg-holding motherly Pokemon who had wrapped her leg working along the tough, metal surface of a blue and gray colored Pokemon. It was one she knew her master had hurt. There came that whir again and Lopunny saw the sparking of some tool in the nurse' hand hitting the top of the Pokemon's hands before she pulled away, sighing as she rubbed her forehead. "Alright Chansey," Lopunny's ears picked up some at the sound of the woman's voice. It was so different from her master's... more caring even though they shared similar hair. "Flip the switch please." "Chan-sey!" An undistinguished hand reached out and there was a flip of a level. Her ears picked up more as a louder noise started, making her shiver because it sounded like the strange mechanical noises that her master's gun made. However... no blast followed. Instead there was a large bright light that made her shut her eyes. When she opened again, she blinked several times to focus here eyes seeing... red eyes staring back at her. "Punny!" She ducked behind the wall quickly. "Ah, welcome to the world sleepyhead." She heard the woman speaking. "How do you feel?" "Gross..." Lopunny peeked in through the window, seeing the metal Pokemon twitching his long metal claws before seemed to stand up on them without trouble which made the nurse smile. "Very good! There's someone outside who has been waiting a long time to see you." The bunny tilted her head, bouncing after them carefully as they left the medical room and then out two other doors. She hesitated at them, looking out a small glass window that was in the center of it seeing past the trio the two she trainers she had faced off against. The elder, lighter-colored one looked up as did his Umbreon, alerted by the noise of the doors opening and heavy footsteps. From here, she could see how greenish-blue eyes widened in surprise, and could hear the faint happy barks that stirred the other two who were fast asleep. She moved the swing door open some to be able to hear better. "Metagross!" "Bre-bre!!!" Triangular, yellow ears perked up and the fox rose his head yawning, blinking blearily as he realized his pillow was leaving. "Jol...?" "Mmm..." The brunette grunted sitting up, rubbing his eyes as the jacket slipped from his shoulders. "What's goen' on...?" There was a soft chuckle as the only woman in the area spoke. "I'm glad to announce Metagross is going to be just fine." That perked the other two right up as they caught sight of the large Pokemon - how on earth could they have missed him? - and Jolteon gave a happy yip, running up beside his brother and rubbing his head against one tall, metal leg as his brother was. "Jooolt!!" "Umbre!!" Cried the other fox, just as happy. But it was his master that perplexed the bunny the most, seeing him wrap his arms around the large creature as best he could in a way that was reminiscent of a time she knew not of. His hair his his face but she could see his body trembling and there was a strange shake to his voice as he spoke, "M-Metagross... I'm so glad..." "Grossss..." "Punny....?" She whispered softly, tilting her head. The brunette seemed to search about for something, as if he was missing something, but quickly gave up when he also heard the other male's voice. "Oh Riku..." Came his soft response to the other's sorrow, getting up and carefully crossing the tile as if it were a forest, not a clear path. He reached out carefully, fingers running along the cold metal of the Pokemon. He smiled then, "It's good to see you Metagross..." He laughed, an irony to his words. "Well, sort of!" "Meta!" The red eyes slit, and though he did not have a mouth it seemed that he was smiling. That was when Nurse Joy turned around and started to sneak away, not wanting to disturb them. "Pun..." Lopunny limped away some hiding against the wall as the door opened and the two walked past. She was sure she hadn't been spotted as the two continued down the hall when- "Remember to rest that leg soon." The woman looked back and smiled, making Lopunny hide her face behind her ears. There was only a soft chuckle and then a tap of heels as the woman continued down the hall, presumably to check up on the other injured Pokemon. "Puun..." The timid rabbit said, a little confused, but a lot of popping noises and cries made her hop-limp to the window again looking out. The waiting room was suddenly full of activity and Pokemon, the two trainers watching with smiles. The foxes sat beside them, the black one holding the edges of a small pair of glasses in his teeth, muffling his name gently around them up to the brunette. A hand reached down, carefully taking them and placing them on his face before petting the fox with a smile. All around them though was a celebration. There were happy calls from a spiky lion, a small skunk and a fat sort-of man Pokemon; a joyous singing of two birds as they perched on chairs; a little loving lick from a motherly dog; a zipping of a cheerful mouse circling around him; a wrapping of a reptilian body around a leg in a cute hug; a run of purplish-pink paws of a tiny ferret on the top of the cold exterior; and a surprising gesture of sharing as a little ghost held up some gems to the other with a big smile. The most touching of all the hellos, however, was that of a snow maiden who hovered over to the steel type and bestowed a kiss to his head. "Looo..." The abandoned bunny sighed, amazed at how close they all were. They were... like a family. Family, something she felt she only knew in fairytales. Selfishless love, deep caring, unending empathy, relentless support, warming comfort... But the sight gave her hope. Maybe one day... she'd have a family too. While Pokemon danced and called in joy at one end of the world, not caring how loud they were, at another corner things were almost unheard. Snow fell softly and silently outside, the night for them already pitch black without a creature to be heard not even inside the homes. "Goool..." Flippered hands grasped the edge of a blanket, drawing it over the shoulders of his master and her mate both fast asleep on the floor. They were so exhausted, the long week taking its toll on them. The sound of dishes clinking together made him glance up, seeing the blue-haired male that owned this strange building picking up the cups of tea that had been made for four. Across the room the TV was speaking softly, a female reported looking excited. ”Scientists have concluded that the footage played on Channel PMB, the Pokemon Battle channel, was authentic. Battlers Gym Leader Terra Tellus, Coordinator Ventus Holani, Trainers Sora Holani and Riku Mizushima, Rescuers Roxas Holani and Axel Xipil, Security guards Aqua Umi and Fuu-“ Click.
It had been playing all night. The eight were going down in history, even finding things of the Big Mission (a time only Glaceon could tell them about) finding a comparison with Terra and Axel, who lost their Pokemon years ago. His master was kind of uncomfortable about it. (“If they can dig up my name… those things… what else do you think they might find? And Ven and…”) But Demyx reassured her peacefully they wouldn’t. They were going to show them as heroes.
That one did not sit well with her lover. Something about TV cameras and having no peace…
But he felt proud. He was always the rescuer Pokemon around here, thanks to his speed that made it good to help drowning people who fell overboard; but he never thought he’d help rescue other Pokemon too.
“If we stand as onnne… There’s nooothing to feaaaar… We’ll beat the daaarkness And we’ll stay right heeeere…” “Duuuck?” The blue duck rose his head curiously, Saix watching him as he tilted his head and waddled into the next room where the strange harmony was coming from. He blinked curiously, watching the strange blonde as he sat… singing to all the Pokemon. Water types, flying types, ice types, even one rock type that had no problem fitting into the large body of the temple, where dozing all about. The duck walked over before squeezing down between Buizel and Kingler.
Demyx didn’t seem to mind his added audience, his eyes shut as he smiled and sang his song. “Good friends… are those who stick together, When there’s sun and in the Hea-Vy weather – Yeah! Smile after smiiile, that’s how it will beeee Just you and meeeeeeee!”
He wasn’t the only one who got to sing today though; even though this one wasn’t expected at all. At another corner, pale hands tugged the blinds closed, keeping a small slit between them to allow just a sliver of light. When the owner of those hands turned around though he was struck by two pairs of innocent eyes, one blue the other brown, staring towards him imploringly from their shared bed. “Ummm…? What’s… wrong?”
The twins glanced at each other before seeming to lean and converse to each other, holding Borva (who the red-haired boy had) and Edana (who the blonde girl had) closer to them . Roxas blinked, glancing beyond them. After dinner, they decided a hotel would be the best place for them all to sleep since it was packed at the center (and strangely, they got the rooms for free...).It was double beds, one for him and Axel and the other for their… adopted kids he supposed. It all just happened sort of fast…
He didn’t regret the choice but he felt a little unprepared. And now they were conspiring against him. He rubbed the back of his neck seeing Axel already fast asleep with Ninetails and Sanuye laying over his legs and Absol patiently waiting for him. Zan meanwhile was on the kids’ bed already asleep as well.
“Mommy…” The voice surprised him and he looked over, seeing the little girl looking at him again. Her name was Roxanne and she was terribly cute with her hair all up in pigtails. “Mommy used to… read us stories before bedtime.” “….Oh….” Wait, was he mommy!? “Um, okay…” Roxas walked over settling down on the edge of the two’s bed. “Well… I’m not that good with stories…” The disappointed looks that came over the twins’ faces was almost heartbreaking. He glanced back at Axel, making sure he was asleep before saying, “W-Well I can sing though!” “Oh!” Cried the boy. He was Roxel, also adorable with the widest set of blue eyes and such a curious, happy nature. “I like songs! Sing, sing!”
“Uh… okay… well…” Roxas paused, trying to think of something to actually sing, feeling a bit put on the spot. “Okay, I got one.” He took a breath, and then…
“When there's trooouble, We'll get through. We allllways have, And we alllllways do! No-Thing in the world can bring us down. No, not uuuus. Spread a little sunshine all around, There's neeee-Veeeer e-Nough!
Cause’ all we wanna do! Is haaaave a good time!”
He would sing many more songs that night until he was eventually tucking in two cuddling twins and two tiny foxes in for the night and would cross the short path of the room to cuddle with his red-haired lover.
Finally, the last sections of the world hid away two more people getting ready to settle in for the night, a heavy body falling onto the bed with a relieved sigh. The man didn’t move for a few moments before grumbling some, kicking off his shoes and scrabbling under the sheets. There was another pause them more movement and his hand reached out, disinterestedly dropping his jacket and belt onto the ground.
“Jeez Terra, tired from lugging you fat ass all over the place?” Was the teasing lilt, his blonde lover actually bothering to take off most of his clothes. He laughed when a lazy hand slipped out from under the sheets and flipped him off. “You know just how to touch my heart.” “Mmm…. whatever bitch.” There was another short laugh a few things being set down on a small tabletop in the room before Ven crossed the room, getting under the covers beside him, hand running down the other’s ass. “You’re lucky I like your fat ass~” “Mmm…not fat… shapely…” Terra twisted in the sheets and reached out, bringing Ven close to him. “Fat.” “Shapely.” “Fat.” “Shaaa- yaaawn. Go to fucking bed.” “Mmmk….” …………………….. “It’s fat you know.” “OH SHUT UP!”
It didn’t take long for things to quiet down in the small room though, the two drifting off peacefully as they held one another. Across the quiet little room, sitting in a little mound, was a compilation of trinkets and pictures and things. All of Venita. One of the frames seemed to of been tampered with, the picture inside lopsided and partially disappearing behind a frame edge. Underneath it, pinned, was a small leaflet of paper with a scrawl of words on it in a beautiful handwriting before it got cut off underneath the heavy glass and metal:
To my boys,
The rest of the message was lost.
“Alright, we’re ready!” “Great! Jolt, Rai, Lily, you know what to do!” “Jolt, joooolt!” “Raaaichu!” “Pikachuuuu!” Came three cries and then cheeks and spikes sparked and lightning lit them for a few brief moments, being threaded down the long wires wrapped around their bodies and up into a generator. It whirred to life instantly, the motors inside turning… and then suddenly the backyard of the Xipil house was a sight to see as lights in the house snapped on and a soft merry tinkling filled the backyard as a fountain in the midst of a garden turned on as well. Roxas looked around and smiled. “Ah perfect, thanks! Now I can finish the food.” “Sure no problem. I’ve got a whole crew of personal powerhouses after all!” Sora laughed with mirth as he lent down, unwrapping the wires that he had placed around a small Pikachu who had a pretty heart shaped tail.
“Look at them…” Eskel said with a shake of his head, but a smile on his face as he saw a Pikachu and a Raichu sitting near some bushes, the second mouse’s long tail curled around the smaller and rubbing their cheeks against one another so there were sparks between them. “They’ve really hit it off.” “Yeah love at first spark.” Sora said sighing at the romance of it all. Riku cleared his throat beside him, snapping him out of it. “Which is why… I came here to ask if I could adopt her.” “Adopt her? Well… I don’t know Sora…. I mean she’s still in rehabilitation and I wouldn’t want to take her out too soon.” “Ah, but Eskel, Raichu loves Lily!” “…Lily?” Riku shook his head, chastising lightly, “Sora don’t nickname Pokemon you don’t own.” “But look!” Sora pointed and the two did, seeing the sweet scene of the orange mouse placing a pretty white lily flower around one of her ears, making the little mouse seem to giggle and look away bashfully. “Ah…” Eskel sighed, knowing he was trapped. “Alright, on one condition. She must agree.”
“Alright! You guys are all set. You can go play with the kids now.” Sora said and with some squeaks and barks the three were off to where three other kids where throwing a Frisbee. “Like this Ten-chan! You gotta whirly-bird it!” The rambunctious boy of the group said, taking the Frisbee and spinning his whole body around before letting it go, falling on his butt and laughing. “Whoo!” The Frisbee didn’t go far falling into the grass a few feet away. The Pokemon lined up for the catch who had all started to run forward had to turn around and run right back! It was a scruffy dog who beat them all to the disk, picking it up in his teeth and rushing over to the three children. He set it in The girl’s hands. His tail wagging as he gave her a lick before rushing over to a pretty groomed Arcanine and three small Growlithe pups. “No, No!” The girl said, her red hair done up in pigtails. “Like this. You bounce it like in pongy!” “That’s stupid!” The boy said loudly and Sora opened his mouth to chastise the little kid but he was beaten to the punch. “NINE!” A cream colored fox barked, staring down the boy. “I-I mean… That’s… errr… well it can’t work! It’s not a ball!” “It’s a circle though!” The girl said, stomping her foot and throwing it down to the ground. It hit on its side and it bounced up some. There was a rush for it and Jolteon jumped through the air catching it effortlessly. But so did another little Pokemon – a small pink ferret, whose claws caught around the edges of the other side. They landed and stared at each other, Jolteon’s ears flipping back. “Uhhhh-ooooh…” The kids all breathed. “Fuuur….?” Rosa said, her honey brown eyes getting bigger, “Reeet~” “……” The fox blinked then sighed, letting it go. “Jol Jol.” “Ret!” The fox was nuzzled happily before the little Pokemon hurried over, a small boy with black hair and strangely colored eyes taking it before she hurried back in line, stopping beside Umbreon whose fur stood on all ends when she touched noses with him and hurried out of line running underneath a large metal Pokemon standing by some trees, hearts in his visor as a frozen maiden spoke to him. “I’m confused…” The boy murmured quietly looking at Frisbee. Before the twins could say a word though, the sound of rapid hooves on the ground drew everyone’s attention. “DADDY!!” The three kids cried as a horse with two riders came speeding another the side of the house and with a pull of the reins the beautiful steed came to a stop.
“Jeez Axel, You ride like a maniac!” The man behind him complained, jumping off the back of the horse, rubbing his thighs, silver hair falling into his face. “Hey don’t complain, you wanted to come along.” Said the spiky red-head, jumping down from the horse and looking around. “Hey, you guys got the electricity on?” “Yeah, no problem!” Sora chirped, “What was up at the plant?” “Ah, just turned out to be that Elekid again we told you about having fun. Shorted out one of the towers. Luckily the Centers and hospital are doing alright.” The other announced, taking off his horse’s reins.
“Daddy, daddy! Did you bring me a gift?!” Came an excited call, the young red-haired boy’s hands curling around Axel’s pant leg. “H-Hey whoa!” Axel laughed, picking up the boy. “Now, Now Roxel. Not every time I come back do I have something for you!” “Yeah, because he has something for me right?” The girl said, “Cause he likes me more! Right daddy?” “Wha! Roxanne!” “No way, daddy likes daddy most! He always tells him he has a gift for him when they go back to their bedroom!” Roxel stated plainly. “I uh…er…” Axel’s cheeks brightened. “Who wants cookies?!” “We do!” “Okay… go ask your dad to give you some I’ll be in in a moment!” The two kids called happily running indoors.
“Annnyways…” Riku coughed, pushing some of his hair behind his ear while Sora laughed beside him but both of them looked down as the small boy came tottering over to them, his eyes downcast. “Hey, what’s wrong there Tensai?” “We can’t make it fly.” He murmured softly, surprisingly quiet compared to his two friends. “The Frisbee?” Riku asked glancing up at the group of Pokemon waiting patiently. When the other nodded he smiled, leaning down and picking him up. “I’ll show you how.”
The other two watched son and father walk away, the brunette smiling fondly. “How’s he been anyways?” Axel asked, glancing over. Blue eyes saddened. “He’s talking more and letting us tuck him in now. We still… haven’t convinced him to call us dad yet though.” The red-head hummed sympathetically, nodding. “I see… Well, I’m sure after a few more months he’ll be okay…. I mean when you first adopted him he didn’t talk at all right? He’s really coming around!” “Yeah… I know. He’s got that strength in him. I just… I worry. He stills asks about his mom and dad sometimes and I do my best to explain and he understands but doesn’t and…” Sora rubbed the back of his head. He looked up watching Riku as he spoke with their son and showed him the art of throwing the Frisbee and when to release it. The best part was seeing Tensai smile. “It’s always good to see him happy though.”
“And then you just… throw!” Riku demonstrated before doing just that and the Frisbee went flying over all the animals heads. “ARRR!” “PIKA!” “CHUUUU!!!” “JOOLTE!” They all turned and rushed off after the Frisbee but before anyone could make a grab for it two birds, one of blue and red feather, and another of gray, white and black swooped down catching it in their claws with ease before swooping back together and dropping it in Riku’s hands. They cartwheel in midair, making Tensai laugh and clap before they landed on a branch were a few Starly and Taillow were. In a few trees nearby was another bird, one of blue and cloudy feathers, her cheeks a little red as a Skarmory hopped close to her.
“Again!” The boy said and Riku smiled, before showing his son again. The disc went flying far enough it made it to where a small ring of trees was. “RAAAAAI!” A mouse sped alongside the others as they went charging after it, the orange mouse taking the lead. He was going to get it this time for sure! He was just about to make a jump for it when a silhouette jumped from the trees in front of him, snatching it right out of the air! “RAI!?” The mouse slid to a stop, blinking in confusion but looked up, seeing the shadows disappear and reveal… “Chu?!” “Luxray!!” Sora called, rushing across the grassy plain to his lion friend, throwing his arms around the other’s neck. “Mmmmry….” The lion muffled around the discus. He looked down at Raichu, eyes narrowed as he grinned proudly. “Raichu!” The mouse pointed to him before huffing.
“Axel!!!” Roxas called walking outside of the house, an apron around his waist and his hands on his hips. “How could you promise Roxel and Roxanne cookies?! You know how hyper they get!” “Eh!? I didn’t promise that I swear!” Axel cried. “Oh I’m sure!” The blonde rolled his eyes. “All Roxy has to do is go ‘plllleaaaase daddy’ and you turn to putty in her hands!” Axel grinned. “She’s not that only Roxy who can make me do that…” His eyes widened as Roxas’ glare became deadly. “AND ANYWAYS! Look it’s Luxray! Terra and the others must be here!” “What!? They’re here already!? I’m not even done cooking!” Roxas cried before hurrying back inside making the red-head sigh in relief. Out of trouble for no- “AND STOP PROMISING THE KIDS SWEETS!” “Damn it!”
“Trouble in the home, Axel?” Came a teasing laugh and the red-head turned, seeing a blonde that was uncannily similar to the one who just went inside the house walking along the muscular brunette who had spoken. Between them was a female, a small girl with tan skin like the brunette’s. At her side, strapped to it by her belt, was a little plastic sword. Behind them were two more women, one with blue hair and another with silver. Beside them was a young boy with midnight blue hair. “Ah, hey guys!” The red-head said cheerfully, before leaning down, grinning at the girl. “Hello Bonnie?” Rather than greeting her uncle, the girl jumped forward and drew her fake rapier, pointing it at his nose, speaking in a heavy British accent. “En garde! Bugger off or I’ll steal all ye booty!” Luckily, she never got the chance because a girl in pigtails walked out, munching on a cookie – and when she caught sight of the other girl her eyes lit up. “BON-BON!” She yelled, rushing across the grass and throwing her arms around the girl. “Yay! Now we can play! Come on my daddy’ll give you cookies!” The girl was dragged away before much could be said. “I… see she’s still a pirate.” Axel stated, rubbing the back of his head. “Yeah isn’t it great?” Ven said with a grin before a call from behind made him look around – before he was suddenly tackled by his brother both of them falling in the grass. “VEN!” “ACK SORA!” “Is he okay Miss Mommy?” “He’ll live.” Aqua said, patting the boy on the head. “And it’s just mommy Sanyi.” “….Miss sure Mommy?” Fuujin smiled amused, leaning down and speaking to him. “Hey Sanyi, why don’t you go follow Bonnie and Roxanne and get some cookies.” “Okay Miss Mommy!” The boy chirped before hurrying to the door. “C…Can I have a cookie?” Tensai said quietly, holding Riku’s hand as they came walking over. “Of course Ten. Just remember to ask your uncle politely okay?” “’Kay.” The orange-eyed boy let go walking inside. “So… where’s the grub!?” Ven grunted as he was let up. “Roxas is cooking.” Riku said, walking towards the door. “I think I’ll go give him a hand.” Terra crossed his arms. “There better be fucking muffins!” “You know you keep cursing like that and your daughter is going to have a potty mouth.” Fuujin said. “And I’m supposed to not be proud of that?” Oh boy… this is gonna be a crazy day. Axel though, running a hand through his hair.
“Here you guys go!” Axel said, setting down the last of the bowls, filled to the brim with pokefood. He reached out, petting a cream fox as her mate, one son and three daughters started to eat. “Eat up!” He straightened looking about, smiling as he looked across the plains, seeing many others doing the same. Down by the pond, Aqua was throwing in some food for the Lumineon, many of the water pokemon (mostly Aqua’s), and a red-scaled Gyarados. Not far away, Terra was pouring food in the tree house, the many birds flocking to it happily. Nearby then, smiling kindly to them, Fuujin was setting down bowls for a nervous Lopunny and an uncertain Scizor. “Hey, Hey Haunter calm down!” Ven was saying as he tried to set down some bowls meant for the Skitty and Houndour, his ghost flying through him and stealing some food from the bowl. “You glutton!” “HAU HAU HAU!” Laughed the ghost, sticking it all in his mouth. “JOLT!” Jolteon chastised, giving him a spark. “Teeer… hauahauhau!!” He burst into tears and faded away, making both the fox and Ven roll their eyes, knowing he’d be back the second Ven set down the bowl meant for him and his spiky ‘mate’. Dooom…” Houndoom sighed, not minding as a small electric pink squirrel jumped from the purple cat onto his back, squeaking excitedly. He picked her up in his teeth carefully, before setting her down between her brothers and sisters nudging her with his nose towards the bowl.
Axel smiled some. All of the Pokemon they had rescued from Rant and Rave had come a long way, even the ones they had declined keeping. Gyarados was much gentler these days, even able to swim with the Lumineon without taking a bite towards them. Crobat was given to Diliza to look after and help him fly back to her best ability again. Terra kept Armaldo as expected to train him in battle without having to have him worry about being punished if he lost; unexpectedly, he also kept Pachirisu who they expected to give to Eskel or even to Sora. It appeared Houndoom refused to let them take her away, he had taken in the little squirrel as one of his own. Kingler was kept in Aqua and Fuujin’s care and appeared much happier (not to mention still infatuated with Missy); Scizor and Lopunny stayed with Sora and Riku, both of them easily fitting in with the rest of the family as they helped out with daily chores. The rest he and Roxas had kept, rehabilitated and found new homes for. Spiritomb and a shiny Weavile had been easy for Roxas to deal with; then there was a Charmelon he had taken great care of; the more difficult two – a Lileep and a Paras – they also had proudly helped find their confidence again and found good homes for them. Lileep had actually been sent off to a science facility where he could live with his own kind in a protected environment that was built up to be more similar to the life it used to live thousands of years ago before it went extinct.
As for the rest of their Pokemon well things had changed… Sora especially had been in the face of many decisions with all eight of his Pokemon in love. Honeytail, Jolteon and Star had stayed in his care and as promised Fuujin allowed him to keep Swellow and Haunter always came to visit just like he had while they were on Mirage. Raichu of course stayed as well and they adopted Lily. Margaret as well as she was swooning Umbreon (and slowly succeeded he heard). Luxray did not – he was given to Terra as well… because it appeared all the lion’s hard work paid off. Mightyena had fallen for him; lasy he heard the brown wolf was safely tucked away in Ida’s farm, nursing some newborn Poochyena and Shinx. They only ever saw each other when one of the couples came to visit the other. Arcanine did not either. She stayed with Gin and Firi most of the time with Kennet taking care of their pups, but when the seasons were good, she would often run from Pastoria to Sunyshore to go and find her old master and see how he was doing. He was sure another decision was to be made soon though… with the way Skarmory and Nimbus were singing to each other. Love was really in the air for all of them though and each time they got together it seemed a new pair was made. “Meow, meow meow meeeeOOOOOWTH!” Came a yowl from Aqua’s Siamese. “Glam!” Hissed the female, springtail cat before she darted away. Eh… maybe not.
But as for all of them… life had changed. After the rescue, towns had to be rebuilt. Gyms. Homes. Lifes. Most towns had to be recreated from scratch, the water damage or fire damage too immense to salvage much. But they had help. Lakes destroyed by filth would be mysterious clean the next days. Winds and storms unfavorable would clear unexpectedly by a call in the air or a dance of lightning on clouds. Ice from mountains and water in water drenched soils were warmed. Flowers and trees bloomed. The legendary birds and dogs were trying very hard to make up for the damage they had done allowing the human race to fix what was destroyed and allowed families to reunite or to grieve together for their losses.
Terra and Ven now lived back in Sandgem. The gym had been rebuilt as well as the beautiful greenroom the brunette had once owned. In blueprints it looked precisely like the old gym. But everything was different, now that Ven didn’t travel. The news had hit the press – Terra was in love. Just… with a man. He was the heartbreaker of the century to women all over the world. Terra didn’t care though; all he seemed content with was that now when he woke up, the blonde was always there beside him. He cared that in the mornings he would sometimes wake up to freshly baked muffins and find Ven tending to the Pokemon in the greenroom. Though Ven no longer traveled, he often helped Terra at by being judge at the matches, or went and helped Ida with the wolf ranch. For them, life had only gotten better; and now they had Bonnie to brighten up their life.
As for Riku and Sora, they went to Sunyshore as promised, living a little away from the town on a cliffside overlooking the ocean. Riku found a job as a lifeguard, having saved several lives from drowning as well as helping some people trust to swim in the water; Sora was a Pokemon teacher who specialized with the kids who would be getting electric Pokemon as their starters. So he taught them how to build bonds with them and handle them without fear. Life still seemed simple to them; until they found Tensai. Terra actually recognized him when they sent pictures to them; his mother and father and he had been on the St. Anne when it sank. His mother hit her head hard on something and there had been some internal bleeding and was placed on life support. But when the ocean started to rise Porta Vista called for an evacuation. Tensai’s father had sent his son off with some of the families that were evacuating, but most of the people on life support of in intensive care, like Ten’s mother, were to be moved in the second wave. Ten’s father promised he’d see him as soon as they moved his mom… but he never returned. Nor did she. They had never made it out. So Tensai closed himself off to the world, would hardly talk, and never play. Sora had heard of the boy from some of the other teachers… and after relaying the story to Riku they came to an unexpected decision. They found information on the boy and adopted him. Now life was something for them… but they were slowly helping the boy to heal.
It was Fuujin and Aqua who had surprised them all. Cruise liners were shut down and only recently had they been implemented again; though business was apparently bad for them. After the tragedy, it was no wonder most people became terrified of the water. So they were out of a job… but not out of a purpose. Aqua wanted answers. So she went to go find them; so with her courage barely there… she returned to her hometown to confront her mother and discover the secrets her parents had kept from her. No one really expected her to decide to live there – until they heard about Sanyi. A boy, who lost his entire family – his mother and father, two brothers and a sister - in the unexpected tsunami the small town had suffered. His story had touched their hearts and they took him in. Fuujin found a job as a security worker by the beach; Aqua took a job at the old dam her father used to work at. They were only a small, modest family, but anytime they heard from them, they always seemed happy.
As for Roxas and he, they had made their dreams come true. They had decided to return to Lavaridge and assist with the rebuilding. Though it had been terrible, losing their home… they just couldn’t imagine living anywhere else. They had made so many memories in this town. It was where he had lived. Where he had met Moltres and raised his Pokemon. For Roxas it was where he saved Absol, where he gained a friend, and lived with a lover. Lavaridge was sentimental to them… they wouldn’t give it up so easily. They hadn’t expected anything when they told Aunt Sera what they wanted to do with their lives. They had done good deeds all their lives and never expected to be rewarded for doing what was meant to be done… But it was hard to say no to the land the town offered them for their foster care program. It had the dreams Roxas had seen in it. A large plain, a corral and barn for horses or other farm animals, a pond, a garden, a small fountain and bird bath, some trees... they had everything almost any type of Pokemon could dream of needing. They even had a small sandy plain for ground types and a small rock field for steel and rock types. Anything else they needed from their would need to be improvised; but it was more than they could of ever modestly asked for. Just like in the life they led before, the always seemed to be busy. Being parents to Roxel and Roxanne was a fulltime job; then fostering the Pokemon that came to them was another fulltime job. On top of that, they did all their odd jobs for money. Roxas surprised him; he had found his old flute and after having it tuned and polished hot a job playing at the local restaurant sometimes and the rest of the time he was giving lessons to kids on how to play music on instruments or with their Pokemon. He meanwhile worked as a Pokemon nutritionist, giving trainers advice on the types of diets they should be placing their Pokemon on, and even making specialized food for unique cases. Sometimes he even taught kids on the weekends how to ride horses. Yeah life was never dull for them. Yet even after all this time there was still a Pokemon under their care still unable to be adopted. His eyes darted towards a darker part of the field, were a single Pokemon lay, still unfed. But he noticed who was crossing the grass, a bowl in his hand. Careful there Sora… Red eyes opened, pinpointing on the brunette immediately. Teeth were bared and even from here he heard the growl. Everyone paused, looking over; even the Pokemon. His muscles tensed, ready to call Ninetails to use a psychic attack if the wolf went for Sora’s throat. Which he had… many times already. Moreso then anyone else as if he knew him and hated him; and yet Sora kept his promise to his brothers to face his fear and kept coming back, trying to get comfortable around the wolf. The brunette paused, meeting those eyes just as Roxas always told him to the two staring each other down one energy full of excitement and fury, the other’s of calm resolve. Most people would tell you never to meet the gaze of a wolf; that it would incite it to fury and make it attack. But that was just the thing about common knowledge… it was usually never true. In fact, the story was almost always the opposite. To a wolf, looking away made it feel superior to you. But if… Red eyes darted to the side. The wolf looked away, it was becoming submissive to you. Sora smiled, walking over and leaning down, placing the bowl at his feet. “Good boy.” He reached out, petting him gently, before getting up and leaving him be. Manectric watched him for a few moments, before leaning down and starting to eat. “Alright!” Riku called, silently relieved, before setting down a last platter of food. All the kids were sitting at the picnic table already, Roxas was close by, pouring them all their drinks. “Let’s eat!” “FINE-FUCKING-LY!” “TERRA STOP CURSING IN FRONT OF OUR CHILDREN!” Aqua yelled, punching him hard. The other could only watch and chuckle in amusement, They would never change, would they?
“You guys know what I found the other day?” Ven said as they all sat around the table, empty plates in front of them though hands still grabbed for some chips or fruit or veggies still left in the platters in the center. Especially Roxel, who couldn’t get enough of the vegetables, strangely. “Mmm….what?” Sora asked curiously, wiping Tensai’s fingers of some sticky juice that had gotten on them from eating the fruit with his bare hands. (he would of course just get them dirty in two-point-five seconds anyways but hey, he got an A for effort.) He looked up curiously when he heard the crinkling of a paper seeing Ven unfolding a slip of stationary.
“Mom’s letter.” Ven said with a smile. “Really!?” Roxas said reaching out for it. The letter exchanged hands, the blonde looking it over. Though he already knew what it said, some of it even reiterated in her diary that their dad was now watching over, Sora still smiled. “Well, read it out loud!” “Alright, alright!” Roxas said with a laugh. “To my boys…”
I wrote this because I know you three. I know your happiest moments. Your greatest fears. I dried your tears when you cried, kissed the boo-boos away, and held you up when you were down. I watched you all grow closer even as you tried to grow apart and become your own person. But no matter how different you all have become, no matter how different you are you all have a similar fear. You fear I will reject you. So you have all kept secrets from me; or tried to. Unfortunately, none of you were ever very good at lying.
I had this letter delivered to Ven first, because it is he I think who needs to hear this first. Ven you are my stubborn yet proud son; you feel weak often, when you are truly so strong. You look for shortcuts sometimes, but when it comes down to the things you really want, you’ll take such a rough path even the most willful of people would shudder at.
That is why I wish to tell you this. I knew. I knew it all. I knew you went to Team Rocket before you ever told me; I could see the R through your shirt. I knew you were in love with Terra; your smiles gave it away. And I knew you were Venita. You may have been able to fool the world in those dresses and behind that make-up but no matter how much you try to hide you face from me, I can still see it no matter what mask you wore.
I was proud of you when you told me about your life under the Team; but I wished you would have admitted to me the good things in your life too. As a coordinator, you’re the star. Be as proud of yourself as I am of you. No matter what guise you wear, that is still you on that stage, you running the show and filling your heart with pride. Never take that time for granted, never forget those ribbons are what you won and no one else. That is the testimony to your hard word. And oh! Falling in love is a wondrous thing. I would of loved to tell you to cherish him, to cherish that bond you two share just as you cherish them with your Pokemon. Hold onto him Ven; he loves you just as much as you love him.
The brothers grinned, looking to their middle sibling, seeing Terra and Ven sharing a glance with wide smiles. It was a wonder anyone could not see it. The blonde who had read the half, handed the letter off to Ven for him to read the next. Ven chuckled looking down towards the letter, his smile only growing when Terra snuck a sweet kiss against his cheek, “I must let you boys know…”
That this letter is still for all of you. So now I must address you Sora. There is only one thing I have ever really needed to know of you to be confident in you, though there is so much about you to proud of. The most important and amazing thing you do is you follow your heart no matter what. Your spirit is always strong in anything you do or have done and it is so large, you can fit almost anyone in there, even those who have wronged you. That is why I knew you of all people would forgive your brother for the terrible crime he committed, especially on such a personal level.
But a heart so big is easily bruised, though it can be dealt more pain than a heart still small. Your emotions are always key to your actions no matter how silly or strange they can be. But one of the strangest actions you did was never to tell me of your relationship with Riku (honestly, did you think I was fooled when you told me you were going to a paradise with him alone?). You two would need of blindfolded yourself, before you could even think of hiding that true love away; it encompasses you both. There is also pride there. You two were not afraid to be who you were.
And yet Sora you still did not tell me. I believe Sirocco’s free thought is somewhat to blame for that. I know you treasure the bonds you have with others, and would not jeopardize them, even if it is at your own expense. Yet at the same time, you hate to hide who you are. I knew one day you would have told me. Told us. Of that I have no doubt. You would have wanted us to know that you were happy. And I am so proud that you have found the person you wished to dedicate yourself to. Let him hold your heart Sora; I know he will not let it break. Or if he does, I know he will be there to help you put it back together again.
Ven trialed off before glancing up at Sora, whose cheeks were a little red but his eyes were shining, as were Riku’s as the gazed at one another. Hidden under the table, his tan hand was clasped with a paler one, wedding bands sliding across each other, only one physical proof of their love. The letter was handed, and Sora took it, speaking, “Now to my youngest…”
Roxas, outwardly you are so logical with life, but inside, your soul flows with passion. You yearn to help, and even though you struggle with confidence, and often never have a high opinion of yourself, deep inside you there is a spark that never dies. There is a power within you that pushes away your doubts and your fears, and when you truly need to do what needs to be done you do it and you succeed, always making me proud. You are never selfish, because even your famous temper can be cooled when there is something more important to be done.
Of course, your temper had calmed more over the years because of another cause as well. One you also did not tell me of. Axel. Though Sirocco did not notice, I did. He was your perfect compliment. Calm where you were furious, foolish when you were rational. It is your opposites that help you both to click together. It is your shared desire to help, that allows you to work as one. You did not really think I would belief he was merely your business partner, did you? It was so obvious in everything you did. You were both already so close, you could finish each other sentences, or complete tasks without needing to speak. Most couples take years to learn such things.
Though fights between you two may be rough from your difference, I know within you both there is a pull stronger then that that will always keep tugging you back to one another. That bond is your love. Roxas, he will never cut that bond. Never raise your sword to it either; a love like this comes only once in a lifetime.
Sora looked up, seeing Roxas leaning against Axel with a simple smile, the red-head grinning cheekily as he wrapped an arm around his shoulders. The blonde turned his head, nuzzling his face against the other’s neck, breathing his name softly. Sora smiled, but rather then handing the letter off, he finished their mother’s final words to them.
“Now there is only one message left I must tell you all:”
Never tell yourselves you cannot do it. Never let yourselves believe you have failed at anything. When we ‘fail’, it is only opening us up to a new success. More important I know you all have a greatness in you. Because I know when one of you, my three beautiful boys, touch a life…
Blue paws slowly laid down for the night, the dog yawning. “Cuuune…” His red eyes opened though, catching a spark in the forest, a little glow flying towards him. A smile fell onto his face as a green fairy flew into his line of sight, flying around him in a circle, some fairy dust tickling his nose. “Suuui….” The fairy laughed before settling down against his side, curling up there. “Celeee….” Suicune lent over, nuzzling his head against Celebi’s before one of his tails curled around her protectively, the two falling asleep for the night.
Further away, a rainbow lit the sky as a colorful bird flew through it circling the air a few times before he landed on the perch. Then another jumped from the rocks her large, silvery-white wings spreading before she flapped them, flying around in the same pattern before she flew down landing back in the same place she had started. The two large birds looked down at the smaller one of the second between them, before the colorful one spoke gently. ”Now you try.” The small Lugia looked between his mother and father before taking a deep breath and nodded. He looked down towards the ocean nervously, almost unwilling, but a nudge from behind sent him off the edge anyways! He called in surprise, flapping his wings quickly as he fell, shutting his eyes and sure he was about to hit the water!!!
….But it never happened. His eyes opened in confusion, looking about as he continued to flap his wings, seeing he was… hovering in the air. ”I….I’m… I’M FLYING! WHOOHOOOOOO!!!!” He flapped harder, lifting himself up. The parents shared a look, smiling proudly, before flapping their own wings and following their son into the sky.
In another part of the word, on an island surrounded by mountains of rock and ice, a large Pokemon stood of six large feet, surrounded by what seemed a field of six petaled, pink flowers. He rose his large head, head eyes searching about before zeroing in on a spot giving a soft call, and smiled when a small green and white reindeer burst from the field, laughing. ”Found me!” Shaymin said, flying around the ghost’s head. ”You do not precisely blend with pink Shaymin.” The other said, a tease in his voice. ”Only in this form. Just wait I’ll-“ The Pokemon started to say, but a glow in the field drew both their attention. It was a one of the Gracidea flowers, glowing so bright… ”Huh?”
Shaymin flew over to the glow, partially disappeared in it under the long stems of the flowers until Giratina could see him no more as he landed. Then the glow stopped. The ghost waited a few moments… but when his friends did not reappear he grew concerned. ”Shaymin, is everything alright?” He called. ”Alright?!” Came a cry from the field, full of joy ”Everything is wondrous!” Shaymin flew from the flowers once more, but not with the same energy he had had before. No, his flight was slow, more simple and careful. And it was because of the little bundle he held by the scruff in his teeth barely as big as a pokeball.
A tiny, baby Skymin.
“There’s something I don’t understand…” Roxanne suddenly interrupted. “How can you be reading ‘mom’s letter? Bonnie doesn’t have a mom… she just has dad.” “That’s ‘cause it’s from Roxas, Ven and Sora’s mom. She’s our grandmamma.” Tensai suddenly spoke up, his eyes wise. Then he turned those wide eyes up, looking from Riku, to Sora, then spoke softly. “Right… daddy?” Aquamarine and true blue eyes went wide, but full of so much hope and love that any parent should have for their child.
And from Sora’s fingers the letter fell softly, falling onto the table, the paper folding over once. But the last few words of the letter could still be clearly seen:
Miracles can happen.
The end!
