Riku blinked a few times, registering what Sora had said. No... that couldn't be right. For the five years that he knew this young man, he had NEVER heard anything overly negative... until now. "Sora... don't say that! We'll get back on the road at dawn and make sure we see her. For all we know, she's getting better... or maybe not in the hospital anymore. You have to keep hoping So--"
He paused, seeing that his lover's face didn't change, but only grew worse as he held his charm tightly. Riku frowned, sighing softly before gently taking his lover's hand away from the pendent. Both his hands rubbed the hot, sweaty one to try and ease his mind. "Sora... relax. We need to get some sleep so we can get their early tomorrow..." He pulled the shorter one close, kissing his forehead lovingly.
Not even thinking, feet slammed closed to their brother's as they raced down the hallway. A tall redhead stood, shocked as he saw the twins dashing down away from them but all they could think of was calling out. "ROXAS!"
They burst into the room, seeing three nurses and a doctor bustling behind the curtain before Roxas pulled it open, seeing their mother just laying there as things were shifted and moved all over her. How could she just---
"You can't be in here right now!"
"FUCK YOU! SHE'S OUR MOTHER!" Ven cried out as he looked over his brother's shoulder's, face red with fear and anger. Why didn't they stop it!? Why were all these things going off!? WHY WAS SHE FAILING!?
Why were they going to let her die?
Suddenly, he was being pushed back by Roxas who was being pushed back by the nurse. They were back in the hallway, being pushed towards the waiting room even if their calls did nothing. It was when the sound of a flat line took over the room, the hallway, the waiting room, and the room.
The world slowed down, the blinking of eyes taking about a minute as opened mouths made no sounds. Bodies shifted, water ran down cheeks and all was silent but that sound. He didn't even feel the strong arms wrapping around him, pulling him back and off his feet as blurring red came to from his left, doing the same to his brother. He needed... he needed to shatter this silence, to make that noise stop piercing his heart.
"MOOOOOOOOOOOM!! NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!"

Blue eyes fell shut slowly shaking his head from side to side as his lover spoke tears falling from his eyes. He wished he could believe that was true but... but... what he felt in his heart, what he felt from his brothers, was more real then anything. He could feel the pain they were, could feel the worry, the fear, the anger... but most of all the despair and desperate hopelessness that told him all.
It was too late.
She... his mother she...
"Oh Riku..." He whispered as the other came closer, his voice in a tone the other had never heard before. His arms shook as they wrapped around the other, burying his face in the other's chest. Fingers grasped desperately at the other's shirt, his grip tight as if he was afraid he would be pulled down by his grief as he started to sob. "Oh god..."
The nurse looked at the two boys before she turned and hurried back the hall, hardly anyone noticing as the flat line continued to ring, louder and louder until the grating noise seemed to be all there was.
Ringing... ringing... all that ringing in his ears...
"Ut..." The twin beside the screaming one stumbled into a hard chest, warm hands gripping his arms. His legs trembled with weakness and gave out under him, bringing himself and Axel to the floor. He didn't really care when his knees cracked painfully into the tile, his body slumping weakly against the one sitting behind him, wide blue eyes just staring down the white, white hall... it was starting to blur, to spin....
Beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.............
...................................................
Silence.
A hand was suddenly placed along the ground as if he had to catch himself, his body bending over and his hand going over his eyes, harsh breaths coming from his chest. "Oh... oh god no... no please..." His fist pounding into the ground hard, "No! NO!!!"
"Ven!" The brunette cried as his lover started to scream, wounding his arms around him tightly. The other fought him fiercely, screaming nothing but nonsense, but Terra held on fast, keeping from from getting away until he finally discovered he wasn't getting away, or maybe it was the noise of the flat line ending, signifying the monitor had been turned off. Terra filled his own eyes as he heard the other emitted terrible cries instead, and embraced him tighter,as if trying to squeeze the pain from him. "Ven..."

Riku frowned when he felt the shoulders of his lover shake. If it had been anyone else, he would of told him that he was over reacting, that he needed to get himself back together and think positive. That everything was alright and what would his mom think if she saw him acting like this.
But he knew better... because he knew that feeling the triplets shared and from the way Sora was suddenly acting... he knew there was no way that he could reassure him anything now. What Sora was feeling was the truth... from the hearts of his own brothers. Bryna was gone and she did not see her eldest son before she passed. In a way, he blamed it on himself. If he wasn't such an asshole and made them stall, they might of been there by now... or just wanting to move back to Mirage Island.... pulling Sora away from his family.
Didn't he even consider this?
He was being selfish because the only thing he knew was to do for himself. He never had friends before, let alone a lover... but it was no excuse...
Riku held Sora closer, rocking him softly as he buried his face in the other's neck. "I'm so sorry, Sora...."
Axel wasn't shocked when he was pulled down with his lover, feeling a passing of another man running down the hallway. "BRYNA! BRYNA, NO!" He blocked the cries, only pulling Roxas close and trying to hold him, to comfort him even though he knew he couldn't succeed in that yet. When the blonde pulled away, slamming his fists into the tiled floor, his own thin fingers reached out, wrapped around the boy's wrists and pulled him back.
There was a chance that he'd get slugged... only hoping that he wouldn't break his nose or glasses as their hands and arms flailed around until Roxas finally gave up. A hand wrapped around the back of his neck and pressed his head close to a warm chest, giving him all the dry shirt he could cry on.
Right next to them, another blonde struggled and cried out, shaking as his throat burned. His body didn't last long though, becoming limp in his lovers arms as his screaming stopped and was replaced with full force sobbing. Tears ran down his face like waterfalls, his eyes closed and his lips wet from the tears and snot. His lungs had a hard time keeping up with his panting, almost going into hyperventilation.
Blue eyes slowly opened, the gloss so fine that it looked like a mirror. However, instead of reflecting the hallway, it reflected memories.
Memories of giggling, laughing, playing in loving hands. From the first day they took a breath, opened their eyes for the first time. How to walk, speak, and the horrid potty training. Crying, fussing and sickness in caring hands. From teething, fevers and the days they came home with chicken pox. Stop itching, boys! Grounds of 'F's and rewards of 'A+'s. The cookies and milk that were served, the bath times that were shared. Kisses good night and bedtime stories that put his brothers to sleep while he stayed up to hear the ending.
Mommy....wake me from this nightmare like you always do....
Mommy?

Sora just shook his head again, more tears falling. "I...I can't believe.... this is h-happening..." The last time he had seen her... it had been so long ago. And now, when she needed him most, when he had Pokemon he prided for speed... he couldn't even fucking make it.
What a fucking joke he was!
The blonde reacted violently as he felt his wrists grabbed, struggling against the other's hold. "No! No let go!!!" He cried, as if the red-head trying to comfort him was some sort of threat, as if he was better off trying to break his hands. But after he discovered there was no hope, his body just became weak all over, the grief of it all a more powerful force.
He let the other lead him into the warmth of his chest, the sound of his heart beating only making him cry more as he realized... his mother's wasn't. And never will again. "Oh god mom... mom..." When was the last time he had been home? The last time he had really spent some quality time with her? Did he ever thank her for all she had done? Did he ever forget to say I love you? "Mom... come back..." He whispered brokenly.
'I'm sorry we did all we could...' In the faint side of his ear, he could hear the doctor's speaking to his father, telling him the same old story you heard on ever damn TV show. Probably where they fucking learned it. His teeth grit, fury lacing his soul as he jerked from Axel's grasp, making the red-head cry out in surprise and reached out for him, holding him back so he didn't get up and do something drastic. "You bastards bring her back! Don't fucking give up! BRING HER BACK! THIS IS ALL YOUR FUCKING FAULT!!!" He yelled himself hoarse at the the doctors and nurses and his father and himself and and everyone and everything.
Terra leaned up against the wall, turning Ven around and letting him lean up against his body, his arms drawing around the other securely. He rubbed the other's back soothingly as he cried, knowing the blonde was probably in a whole other world right now. There was nothing he could do... except comfort him. "Ven...."

Riku swallowed, holding Sora closer and never minding the people looking out their windows or people walking by. He needed to get a room so it would be easier on both their worn bodies. "Come on..." He spoke softly as he pulled his lover with him to a small inn. When he walked in, he walked to the receptionist, told him he needed a room quick, laid down some money and was handed a key. He found the room easily, seeing that there were only five in the place before opening it to see a small but cozy room.
He brought his lover to the bed, sitting down with him on it before pulling him closer, kissing his tears away. "Sora...." He whispered, rubbing his back.
Red hair shifted wildly as arms reached out again, wrapping around the smaller male again and pulling him back as loud cries filled the section, making others look and wondered what was going on. They never heard so much yelling when someone died...
"ROXAS!" He called, tugging his lover back to the waiting room. He knew how upset Roxas was... well... almost. He knew how desperate he was when this blonde 'died' on him. He would of given up anything. He would of even killed his own brother for what he did. But he couldn't just let Roxas go over and beat the doctor up. Nothing good would come from him trying to get out his frustration. There were five steps of grieving... and he knew anger wasn't the first. There was Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Depression and then Acceptance. Maybe he WAS at anger now... but this wasn't the time or place for it.
"ROXAS! ROXAAAAS!" Axel called before putting his hand over the blonde's mouth. He leaned down, coming close to Roxas's ear. "Roxas.... she's gone....she's gone...." He said softly and compassionately.
On the other side of the room, another blonde buried his face into a damp shirt. "Why? Why her....?" He sobbed as he gripped onto the fabric. "She never did....ANYTHING bad!" And where was Sora? He would of been here is it wasn't for FUCKING Riku dragging him off the face of the earth!

He didn’t notice as he was taken away from the path, led through down where eyes of those still awake, still wandering gazed like predators all around. All of them if they even opened their mouth to speak, to wonder at what was wrong even in the kindest of senses, would only be using their fangs. Fangs that would pierce his heart with words that would remind, would recall his brain to think again, to think of his mother, to think of the first wonderful ten years of his life when he and his brothers were nearly attached to her hip. Always she was there. To guide, to cure, to reassure, to comfort, to punish, to uplift.
He did not even get to tell her the good news… about his engagement. She would never know he was in love, had been in love for years due to his cowardice. Would never know they planned to adopt, that she would be a grandmother of some unfortunate, forgotten toddler. Maybe toddlers. And he could have brought them to her, on Arcanine if he must, and she could bake her famous cinnamon cookies and could coo over them and hug them and spoil them with treats when his back was turned just like all grandparents seemed too.
But… she would get to do none of this. Would get to know none of this. Had he not been so scared… he at least might have told her how much he loved this man. This man who he was now leaning against for support, a bed underneath them that he had not even realized they had gotten to. A man who would stay up with him all night for it was sure to sleepless, and who would travel with him for hours more tomorrow all the way to his first home, and stay by his side for the even longer week ahead.
To a home… where his mother would no longer be.
“Damn it Axel, let me go! LET ME GOOOO!” Roxas continued to scream, his voice cracking and his body shaking, tension built up in his body that he usually used during a mission that needed him to be quick and fast thinker or when he was young and he got into fistfights with other kids at the Pokemon institution, and his mother would scold him and ground him then put band-aids with Pokemon faces on them on his scrapes and scratches. His mom… who had had enough confidence in all three of them to let them go out on their journey’s alone, with only their Eevees for company. Enough trust in them that she didn’t even demand they stick together, just that they remembered to change their underwear and brush their teeth every day.
The whispers echoed in his ear, and his blue eyes focused on Axel, shaking his head. “No… she can’t be! She’s… she’s just…” He looked away gritting his teeth so hard his jaw hurt. “This can’t be…” “Flaaar…” Whined the red fox worriedly as she stepped towards them, her ears down once more and looking up at the two, seeing the struggle and emotion on their faces. Something really bad had happened and it had something to do with that big noise.
“Because life is fucking unfair like that.” Terra whispered back, running his hands through blonde swirls of hair to comfort him. It seemed rather harsh, but he knew if he said any of the typical things like I’m sorry or It’ll be okay Ven would just call him on his shit talk and become even more of a mess. He never wanted to hear lies… because it certainly wasn’t going to be fucking okay. Thought he knew more of her in stories than in personal meeting, but he knew enough that Bryna was a lot like his mother. And Ven had been pretty devoted to her when he was a child. Now that attachment was broken and no amount of paper clips and duct tape could ever repair it.
And it was not only the bond with his mother that was broken today, but the one with his father was cruelly torn as well. He looked over the blonde’s shoulder at the wise, quiet fox that was watching them with equal worry that her sister was her own. Shit… how did this get so fucked up? “I’m here for you… Ven.”
Most people would complain that there was work to do after a death of a family member. Where was there time to grieve when you had to worry about phone calls to relatives, arrangements for the funeral, finding a plot to bury someone in, and worrying if you could afford it. But Roxas wouldn’t complain, in fact he’d say he thrived on it.
He had slept little that night, his mind constantly over-thinking, over-working. After they had gone home from the hospital, nothing left to do but accept what had occurred, he had cleaned his old room as best as he could, making a spot for him and for Axel on the small beds for sleep. After all, they didn’t have the money to afford a hotel like some people.
They stayed up late that night and he wasn’t sure if it was to escape or just the exhaustion of sheer grief but he managed to fall to sleep… and awoke not long after. Axel was just as tired, but he did not have as much trouble with his rest as Roxas did. He snored away into the night, while Roxas got up and did what he could. He saw the sunrise for the first time in years not by choice as he searched through the phonebook, taking down names for flowers, a pastor, and cemeteries. Anyone who knew him knew exactly what he was doing, knew exactly why he didn’t mind doing all the legwork. A trick he hadn’t used in years because being with Axel, he hadn’t needed to. He was cutting himself off, distancing himself from his emotions and his loss by burying himself in his work, picking them up and setting them in a lockbox and throwing away the key that might not be found again for months when he could really just… heal.
By the time real morning rolled around he was on his feet nearly constantly, on the phone while he paced, bargained and begged while he had his dad make a list of those they needed to inform and invite. By 9 he had already drunken five cups of coffee while Axel finally woke up to have his first. By noon he was ready to tear his hair out as Ven, who he naturally invited over because he had every right to help plan for this shit as he or his dad did, fought nearly every five minutes with said father about the fact he WAS there after being disowned. He tried playing peacekeeper at first, to shut them the fuck up so they could actually get shit done – but Axel quickly took the job over for him, being much more effective at it than him. This wasn’t about them, it was about Bryna.
It seemed though that this family was tearing apart at the seams. Their mother was gone, Sora was absent, Ven and Sirocco fucking hated each other, and he was just struggled to keep it together. How Axel and Terra (of which his father bitched about as well) managed to stay in the same house, let alone the same room, without going insane was either a true show of will or just a fucking miracle.
BAM! The heavy phone book went as Roxas flung it onto the kitchen table, the yellow pages fluttering out of place. It was enough to make his brother and father stop bitching about… something he wasn’t paying attention, and turn their gazes to him. “Will you two…” Roxas growled as he angrily started to turn pages, ripping a few in his frenzy to return to the spot he had been at, “Stop yelling at each other for TWO seconds…” He stopped on the page, jabbing onto the various advertisements hard enough to make the book depress, not noticing how their gazes shifted ever so slightly to the left over his shoulder, “And help me decide what flowers to get?”
“Cresselia blossoms.”
Roxas jerked in surprise, his blue eyes going wide as he slowly turned, looking at the threshold of the kitchen. Even Terra and Axel, the two trying to conjure up some sort of meal for them all paused in their actions to turned to look at the man who had barged into the home unannounced, focused on the last person they imagined to join them. His clothes were rumpled and wrinkled and he was slightly unclean, not having had a shower in awhile, making the spikes on his head droop though from the gloom that seemed to hover over his head.
“Mom loves Cresselia blossoms. For their color.” Said the brunette softly, leaning against the framework, his body seemed haggard and worn, weary as if he had traveled all night long, a silverette emerging beside him, his appearance no better. “And Gardenias. Lots of them to show our gratitude to her.”
“Sora…” Roxas breathed, his feet already moving, throwing his arms around him in a tight hug, sighing in relief when the other returned to embrace, almost forgetting how much he needed that. It was just a relief to have him here, and he realized somewhere deep in the back of his mind was a fear... he wouldn't come at all. “You made it.”
The chest rumbled softly against his, the chuckle bitterly amused. “Not quite.” Hands curled onto his shoulders, pulling him away lightly the two brothers looking at each other before the tanner finally smiled weakly, giving him a once over and already knew more than needed to be told. “But I am here now… And you look like you need sit down and relax.” He looked past his brother to the two at the table, giving them another smile that held none of the old Sora behind. “Hey there Ven… dad. Is this really the right time to be fighting?”
Two foxes walked in the home after their masters, not going into the kitchen as they where now blocking the entrance. To the black one, this whole area was new and fantastical, but for the yellow fox, it was still familiar. The smells he had grown up with still permeating the air. His ears perked when he saw a friend he knew perched on a long coat hanger. "Jol!" The fox called in greeting to Pidgeot, not noticing his voice would alert anyone else in the area.
But it did. Four foxes that had found a warm 'next' on the couch to settle down and sleep on. "Flaaaar!" Called the happy red fox sleeping on the comfiest pillow. Another rose his head, laying on the windowsill and drinking in the light. "Lee?"

"I shouldn't have to fucking prove to you shit! If I get fucking successful in my OWN way, you should be fucking proud nonetheless!" The blonde snapped, his blue eyes dark like a storm as he looked at his blonde father. "You're deceiving people, Ventus! How can you say that you a SUCCESS!?" "WELL NO ONE FUCKING---"
They stopped when the book slammed onto the table loudly, making them look at the book first before glancing up at the blonde. Ven swallowed, seeing and feeling his brother's stress, making his nerves almost as bad... only in a negative way. How could he think about flowers at a time like this!? He was about to snap, asking him what the fuck would he know about flowers even though he was sure he would get a sly remark that he was prancing around in a dress for three years.
It was a voice that made everything stop. A wall came up so that no negative energy could go anywhere. Eyes all shot to the door, even those who were trying to block out things while cooking. The whole house seemed to be relieved, seeing a weary brunette and silverette at the door. "Sora...?" Ven called softly, speaking as if it wasn't true. Slowly he got up, the chair making a noise but he paused, hearing his brother speak to them. Lips pushed against each other, realizing the reality of the whole situation.
This wasn't the time for fighting. Quickly, he walked to his brother, wrapping his arms around him as well. Finally, his heart didn't feel so lost... but now complete. Grieving would be... a little easier now.
The large bird flapped her wings as she heard the call, looking down at the smaller fox. "GEOT!" She welcomed back but didn't say anything else as the floor started to move. Foxes of all kinds quickly came to the two new ones. Another who was use to this house, a purple thin cat nuzzling her yellow brother as a blue fish like fox stopped sniffing around and bounced to lick his black foxed brother.
Umbreon looked around the house, sniffing it a bit. This was where some of his siblings spent their young lives.
The small bit of cheer ended quickly as Sirocco stood, looking at his son. In a way, his face seemed to wonder why it took him so long, but his voice made up for it. "At least you were able to get here at all..." Slowly he walked towards the shorter, making the rest move away and the man wrapped his arms around his eldest boy.

"Joool...." Jolteon greeted softly to the eldest sister, nuzzling her back. It was nice to see her again after all this time, "Flar! Flar! Flar!" The red fox said happily at this nice surprise, running circles around them all. Was Glaceon going to show up next?! "Leeee~" Yawned the green and tan fox, still resting on the sill. It wasn't that he didn't want to see his siblings... but he was really hungry!
"Hey..." Sora said again, wrapping his arms around his other brother in a tight hug. He looked like he really needed it too. He had no idea what was going on, or why his brother and dad were fighting and he had so many questions about mom but...
He looked over when he heard a chair screech against the floor as it was moved back, but looked away at the expression on his dad's face. It didn't lessen his guilt at all - didn't he think he knew how bad he screwed up? His eyes darkened some from the words slowly wrapping his arms around his father, but quickly pulled away, giving a disappointed look to his father. First Riku now his own dad - did ANYONE know how to say something reassuring?! "If that was supposed to be 'Welcome back', it sucked."
His dad seemed a little taken aback at his bluntness, but for once - as Ven would say - he didn't really give a fuck. He walked past them silently, heading over to the sink and glancing at Terra and Axel, giving them a light greeting as well, and glancing at what they were making. "Hey Axel, Terra. Good to see you again. If any of you have any Pokemon food to spare, me and Ri would really appreciate it." "Sure no problem." Terra answered, watching him curiously as he got out a Tupperware bowl and filled it with water. "Thanks." Sora picked up the bowl, walking carefully so as not to spill it.
Roxas blinked watching him walk past again. "Sora...?" "Arcy needs water. After this, I'd like some answers." He explained softly before going out the door to the backyard where she'd have enough room to move around a bit, get out the kinks in her legs. He set the bowl down and reached for his criss-crossing pokeballs, taking off the third, enlarging it and letting it fly. The exhausted tiger dog appeared, panting softly. "Hey girl..." He pet her softly and showed her the water. "Drink up and thanks for getting us here." "Arrrrrr~" The dog said softly, licking him across his face and getting slobber all over him. Her way of forgiving him.
While the brunette was outside, Roxas frowned then looked towards Riku who hadn't moved an inch or said a word. Last he heard from Sora, they were having some sort of trouble. But if he was here... had traveled all that way, left the ISLAND for the brunette... hopefully that meant things had cleared up. "Hey Riku... thanks for helping him get here."

Sirocco blinked and frowned, hearing his eldest and just letting him walk off. He had always told Bryna that he wouldn't be much of a father. He didn't have that sort of... candy coating to the way he thought. Still, she begged him for at least ONE child and he agreed. She never told him that the one time would bring them a bundle of three. He couldn't blame the dead now though, and having her gone was making things harder. What bothered him the most was that his three boys came back... with three other men. Shouldn't SOMEONE have a girlfriend by now? The only one that didn't bother him was Axel. At least he was Roxas's business partner...
Axel frowned to see have robotic the usually chipper boy was... but if it was any other case than his mother's death, he would of been really worried. At the question, he nodded. He always brought more than enough Pokeblocks than needed, just in case they ran into a hurt Pokemon along their journeys. He reached into one of his large pockets and placed it on the counter next to him before placing the chopped peppers in with the onions.
He glanced over, seeing that Terra's noddles were almost ready. "Maybe you should put some more in now that we have more company."
Riku nodded when he heard Roxas, smiling tiredly. "No need for thanks... I'm just glad I smartened up quick..." He blushed softly, running his fingers through his long hair. Ventus only frowned, his eyes narrowing as he looked up at the taller man. "You better not drag him all the way back to that island after this!"

The brunette beside Axel nodded, reaching for the box of dry noodles, pulling out a handful and snapping them in half. He glanced back, hearing his lover complaining then glanced at the guilty-looking silverette. He had heard all about it - from Ven actually since Sora had been writing some letters that were 'only for him'.
But Ven was pretty bad at keeping secrets.
He sighed as he stirring the noddle grumbling under his breath, "We should of made muffins."
Roxas nodded in agreement, glad the silverette had as well... because Sora really needed him right now, more than ever. The sight of how he was acting was making him a little sick to his stomach... he'd never seen Sora quite like this. And unfortunately for him... this wasn't the first death he had to suffer with. He glanced at Ven though and nudged him in the ribs with his elbow. "Use a little tact!"
Sora smiled, moving out of the way and letting Arcanine start to drink up the water. "When your feeling hungry just call for me." He headed back into the home, hearing his brothers talking to Riku about... oh. He smiled faintly. "Don't have to worry about that." He looked towards the silverette, his eyes lightening some, smiling a little easier. "There's going to be a lot of changes for us."
He walked over to the table, looking down at the mess cluttered on it. An invitation list, numbers for all sorts of companies and prices, other little things like that that should indicate a wedding,... not a funeral. He sighed picking up a pen and tapping it on the table almost in a nervous way, "So... What did... what did mom d..." He bit his lip, unable to utter the horrible word He took a deep breath, letting it out with a shudder. "What was she sick with?"

Axel could only chuckle, shaking his head as he opened a jar of tomato sauce. He was making his best tomato sauce for dinner, his aunt showing him how to make it. She said that his father was really proud of it and wouldn't tell anyone his secret about getting the perfect taste. However, when he died, it wasn't hard to find, stashed away in an old cookbook. His love for dance was almost as strong as his love for cooking.
No wonder Reno missed him so much... he must of been a great guy.
He shook his head, sighing softly as he put some seasoning into the batch, Sora's voice bringing him back to reality.
Sirocco sighed as Sora sat down, walking over and sitting down in the chair that was by him at the table. "It is called Pokerus. Scientifically, it is a viral neuroinvasive disease that causes inflammation of the brain in warm-blooded animals. It started in Kanto and spread throughout the world about a month ago." Slowly he looked at Roxas, knowing that he must of had cases like this. "Rescuers were the first to report it but people didn't take it all too serious until the first human was infected... and died. Ever since, at least one person a day dies from being bitten by infected wild pokemon. Your mother was hanging the laundry and apparently shooed a Rattata away... and it bit her."
Sympathetic eyes glanced away from the food, the green darkening a bit. He had heard a mass of rattata had to be put down because they were the number one carrier of this new infection. They didn't even test some of them...
"She came down with a fever, but we didn't think much of it at first. A week later, she got really bad. It became worse and worse as time passed until I brought her to the hospital. That was when they told us that she was infected... and by the symptoms that showed... it had already progressed too far." He swallowed, making the bird behind him uneasy. "So she stayed there... and as she grew worse and worse, the doctors became more and more stumped. Finally, one night, they told me that it had reached her brain and even if they found the cure tomorrow, they wouldn't be able to stabilize her. She was..... she was going to die." He choked, shaking a bit.
Riku frowned, slowly walking into the house and closing the door. Carefully he made his way over some of the foxes until he reached Sora, placing his hands on his shoulders and started to rub them. That was when Sirocco continued.
"That night I wrote the letters.... I.... I should of written them sooner. When I came back from the post office... they asked me if they should pull the plug. I... I told them no.... that she was a mother of three boys and she.... she needed to see them before she left... I... I should of sent the letters sooner!" He cried, his face suddenly being covered by his old, hard working hands as he sobbed. "I'm so sorry...."
The large bird swooped down and pulled a wing around her master. "Piiiii...."

The brunette looked up tentatively as his father sat down beside him. The minute he heard the disease name though his eyes shut. "Oh god..." He knew of it, thanks to Roxas. He had turned into an incredible Pokemon plague, and they putting down two to three rescued down a day. He wanted to warn him so he could instruct Nimbus to be careful... so that she didn't bring the disease to the island.
But he hadn't even known... that people were at risk too.
He placed a hand over his eyes, the news a bit much as his dad kept talking. Everything was silent around them except for the shimmering of water and the soft closing of a door, his brothers, their lovers, even himself and Riku a bit overtaken. He looked up when he felt a hand on his shoulder, covering the pale fingers with his own, thankful for the support.
His expression turned sorrowful when his dad started to cry, his eyes concentrating on the hard wood of the table. He'd never... seen his dad cry before. He shut his eyes and shook his head, reaching out and placing his hand over his dad's instead. "Dad... it's not your fault. You wrote them soon enough..." His shoulders slumped some. "Even if you did sent them to Roxas and Ven sooner... you still needed Nim to get it to me, she's the only one who knows the way... I still wouldn't of gotten in the same day and still wouldn't of gotten here in time to... to say goodbye. To tell her the things... I wanted to let her know." Tears filled his eyes and he breathed out shakily, brushing away at them as they started to fall.
"Please don't blame yourself dad, it really isn't your fault... for anything that happened."

Riku swallowed, hearing his lover choke as he talked. It was going to be a long week... but that was alright. They had gotten through a lot in the years that they knew each other... this was just one of those steps. Next would be the news to everyone about... their engagement and who knows how well that will go over. Besides... it had been a long time since they saw the others.... maybe even they had things to tell that couldn't at a time like this...
The house was so quiet... even with all the Pokemon and people inside.
The sun was setting over the tropical waters that seemed so familiar but were so different. An extra table was taken out and placed next to the current one, able to let all the people who were in the house to eat together. The meal was tasty, Axel's sauce blending in with Terra's spaghetti extremely well. No one complained but no one was exactly hungry either. It was still silent... even all the Pokemon in the back yard and down by the beach were quiet, whispering as they talked to each other and said hello to old friends.
Even so, the wake was tomorrow and the funeral in two more days. Riku even called his mother, telling her the news. She was devastated but said that she would be there tomorrow for the wake. At least he would get to see her again. Axel called his aunt quickly, asking how she and the Pokemon were doing. She said she was fine and to send her love to the family. Ninetails and the others were fine... she hadn't gone into labor yet.
Over the ocean and across rocks that jutted up from the sea, islands poked up in the darkening sky. It was darker here, use to storms of the whirlpools that occupied the shores 24/7. However, on one of the island, a mechanical like machine was attached to one of the cliffs. Attached to it were burners, obviously some sort of flying machine. That would explain how it got to these islands in the first place.
Not far away was a cliff opening, like one would see in fairytale where a beast might live. However, this was no fairytale... for a best did live inside. A beast that was still young and defenseless. It was a gray color, though still hard to tell from how dark it was inside. There was a blue about its face though it nuzzled to the nest it was sleeping in. What it didn't seem to notice was the shadows that lingered over it. Two of them to be exact. One was from a male, his outfit interesting though a symbol was easily seen. A big red 'R'. His hair matched his symbol as did the pokeballs on his belt.
As for the other shadow, it was of a girl, her clothes almost as interesting with sleeve so long you couldn't see her hands. On her chest, the same symbol but only this time, a pink 'R'. Her hair matched this as well, up in cure piggy tails that curled at the bottom. They were both around the same age, in their mid teens and maybe even siblings from their similar looks... maybe even teens. They stopped a few feet from the nest before the girl looked at the large beast... but instead of shying away, an evil smirk ran over her features... and her toothy grin was sharper than normal teeth.

Terra glanced at the blonde beside him from the corner of his eye, noticing how he poked aimlessly at his meal. He;d barely eaten a bite. He too had made a few calls, when of course he was able to yank the damn think from Roxas' hands. Mostly to call his mother, but also to make some quick arrangements for rescheduling all those goddamn meetings and press releases and whatever all else.
Being a leader was a pain in the ass sometimes.
He glanced out the far window, seeing the beach cluttered with all sorts of Pokemon. Their Pokemon. And there sure seemed to be a lot of love trying to be shared.
"Raaaa...." Said a large t-rex like Pokemon, his body grey with spikes coming out from his neck and a dome on his head, colored blue and extremely tough looking. He was doing his best to cross his too-small arms, edging to the left every so often when a small puff of wool baaed at him and drew closer to him, obviously frightened of all these new friends. Why him?!
"Alll~" "Staaaar!" Two bird-like Pokemon said softly as they pecked and ate at the berries on a tree. "Skar!" Came a more 'manly' screech, a metal bird landing on a higher branch and fluttered out his wings in a showy way, a smirk seeming to gleam from him. "Mory!" Star looked at him and huffed, turned around on her branch and agitatedly showing him her tail feathers, unimpressed. "Raptor!"
"Miii~" Said a beautiful brown wolf contently, the dying suns rays seeming to make her sparkle as the tides lapped close to her feet. The breeze ruffled her fur playfully, giving her a look of majesty. "Raaay...?" Her eyes opened and she glanced to her left. "L-Lux!" Said a blue and black lion in a tentative way, between his teeth a pretty seashell of pink and blue. "Yena." She said in surprise before smiling and leaning over... before smacking him against the chin hard with her head, making him yelp in surprise and pain. The seashell flew off in some random direction. "Mifghtyena!" She snarled in warning before standing and walking off, her tail flicking irritably. "L-Luuux..." Whimpered the large lion before he laid down in the sand, looking utterly shot down.
Further away, in seas not yet accurately charted nor explored, two teens have found their way, almost seemingly on accident, in the mist of the chaos of high winds and ripping, spiraling waters. Almost seemed... it not for the device that had obvious driven them there. The teen with red-hair seemed to share the other's smile, such a likeness between them there was no longer a question of their relation. He reached down and pulled from his pocket a little black ball with a red R on it.

The little sheep continued to follow the large dinosaur wherever he tried to flee. "Reeeeep!" She bleated once more, a little hop in her step as she smiled. The sand under her hooves felt great and the largeness of the pokemon by her made her feel safer as larger waves came crashing in. Plus... he was kind of cute.
There was a sudden large crash as the dino tripped on one of the rocks that came out from the sand and the little lamp baaed in worry before hopping closer, seeing that he was fine. With a smile, she jumped on his back and laid down. "Mareeeeeeeeeep~~~"
"Seeee~~" A large snake stayed close to the ground as he peered around a large rock. His red eyes narrowed in on a Pokemon that was playing with some pretty pebbles. Slowly he slithered up to her before his flatten tail came to her face, showing her pretty shells as well. "Viiiiiiper~~" A good smile came across his scaly lips as small hearts came from his head as he looked down at Honeytail.
"Meta..." Another pair of red eyes looked up, seeing a beautiful pokemon float by. He had always had feelings for Madame Snow... but he never knew how to show it. She just seemed too...... high class for him. A sigh admitted as she floated away.
The girl slowly reached for a gun like object on her side. A slow movement of a finger seemed to turn it on and it started to glow red. Slowly she pulled it up and aimed it at the sleeping beast, the look on her face all the same as she suddenly pulled the trigger. A light shot out and seemed to wrap around the beast, making it wake up from the immense warmth it brought. It seemed to flail at first but just before it could open its mouth and give a cry, the ball that the boy held shot out and hit it.
Another wave of red light came over the beast and it was suddenly gone, the cave empty except for them. "Heheheheheheheheheheheee...." The girl giggled an evil tone, the gun being placed back at her hip before they both turned and ran out of the cave.
Narrow, exotic red eyes suddenly shot open under dark rims. Slowly, a long red neck pulled up, a green ring around it, as red eyes looked around the sky. It was a large bird, fierce looking though he was many colors and known as the Rainbow Pokemon. His negative look didn't change as his red, white and green wings fanned out before he stood on his blue feet. He was sigh above on a ledge, overlooking the land and ocean but far out enough that it was impossible to reach.
Slowly her turned and looked out, his eyes narrowing more. Something was wrong...
