The Tale of Seven

[Reno]

Terra smirked at the call of the ice attack. "I knew you'd do that. Torterra, Safeguard!"

The large Pokemon nodded his head and a clear white dome formed formed from the top of his tree down to his feet. The icebeam, crashed into it hard crackling some and creating a colorful explosion across it. Once the attack ended Torterra tossed his head and the ball faded.
"And Torterra shows off its incredible defensive abilities with that safeguard protecting it from ice beam!"

"Giga Drain." The brunette sounded calm again, his eyes shining with confidence.
"Toooor!" The three spikes in his shell grew green before vine-like appendages grew and shot across the stage, going in three directions. As Vaporeon tried to dodge them, much like he had stone edge, one of the vines caught him around the middle... then the other two surrounded him and lifted him in the air, drawing energy from the fox.

"Jooolt!" Jolteon cried watching the attack connect.

[Rikugurl]

Axel grit his teeth was he heard safeguard. Of course Terra was waiting for an ice attack.... but water wouldn't do much. He should of---
"VAPOREON! Watch out for those appendages!"

The water pokemon cried as he started to run around, his pool empty now so that he couldn't hide.
"Eon!" He panted as he jumped over one but as he did so, another one took him around the waist and pulled him up.
"EON!" He cried more as he was squeezed, his energy being sucked dry and being squeezed more.

"Vaporeon!" Axel cried again, seeing the swirls in the water pokemon's eyes as the dinosaur dropped him.
With a sigh, he grabbed his poke ball and recalled him. "You were amazing Vaporeon... thank you..." He said softly before placing it back on the belt.

Just as Axel recalled Vaporeon, the clouds started to disburse and the snow stopped falling.
Axel got a chill, from being wet and then exposed to cold.
It was time to heat things up.
"Camerupt, let's do this!" He called as he grabbed a poke ball and threw it, another grumpy looking Pokemon appearing.

[Reno]

"Oh and it's curtains for Vaporeon, who dealt a deadly blow only for Terra to strike one right back! Folks this is becoming one of the fiercest turnabout matches this stadium ever witnessed!"
Jolteon sighed ears drooping unhappy. And there goes his other brother.
Sora chuckled, petting him atop his head. "It's alright. They'll both be fine after a trip to the center."

He wondered who the fuck paid that guy just as he was watching Torterra set the unconscious Vaporeon on the ground - attempting to be gentle despite having literally squeezed the life out of him. That's... what was odd about him and who he dubbed Terra two. Besides the obviously... name hilarity, they were really nothing alike. Though he was perfectly willing to go out there and fight, he didn't like the ruthless pain his other Pokemon, particularity Rampardos, caused. He was much more happy just letting Swellow and Pidgy nest in his trees or look up at the stars than slamming down a Cubone or parading over a victory against a Vaporeon.

Besides, he couldn't really look at that last battle as a victory. It was obvious, even to him, how untrained Vaporeon was compared to Axel's other Pokemon. Which... was no one's fault really. Every trainer specialized in something. He in power, Sora in speed, Axel in fire-types, and Roxas in normal-types. He couldn't really fault Axel for having difficulties training something he wasn't familiar with... he knew that feeling as well. With Leafeon - who's small size caused him to become easy prey for large attacks. For Torterra - who's sweet nature made it difficult to teach him the value of a battle. And Mightyena - who... well just being a girl caused problems all around.

He looked up at the call of the next Pokemon and chuckled. Now THAT he had predicted. At this rate neither Pokemon would be moving another inch into the field.
Torterra sighed as the snow stopped and the clouds went away, warming his leaves once more. He didn't much seem to be interested in the Pokemon across from him.
"And Axel's fourth choice is Camerupt! This stubborn and often bad-tempered camel has led Axel through many victories in this tournament and he's returned again, stealing the easy advantage type! Torterra better watch out for the molten lava this Pokemon can store!"

Terra sighed and smirked. "Alright Torterra, le-"
"Tooor...." The other sighed, still looking at the sky.
Terra's eye twitched, feeling a vein pulsing in his forehead. "Snap out of it."
The large Pokemon blinked slowly and turned his attention to the battle. "Teeeeer."
The brunette shook his head. "Use Giga Drain again."

The large Pokemon nodded, the three green streams shooting across the field once more.

[Rikugurl]

Axel blinked as he looked across the field at the large dinosaur. He smiled softly, seeing how uninterested he was. That was the kind of pokemon he enjoyed keeping safe.
Those who enjoyed life and were kind to other pokemon.
Times like these... he had to wonder why he became a trainer...

He shook his head as the first attack shot out.
"Protect yourself!"
He called, the three appendages flying out towards the angry beast.
"RUPT!" The red ox called just as the things got close. Suddenly an invisible shield wrapped around him, the appendages disappearing as they hit it.

"Use Earthquake!"
"Rupt, rupt!" The pokemon called before getting onto his hind legs and slammed back down onto his front. The impact was stronger than that of Typhlosion, the wave of impacted gravel shout out towards the larger pokemon across the arena.
Back hooves were shot out from behind and slammed back down before front quickly got out of the way for another ripple to go through.
The front hooves came down once more and the beast grunted, seeing the three waves heading to Torterra.

[Reno]

"Torteeer..." Said the large Pokemon softly as his attack was stopped by the protect spell. So he had a defensive move as well.

Terra looked up as he heard the attack and sighed. That wouldn't do a lot of damage. "Alright Torterra just stand your ground!"

The Pokemon nodded and seemed to withdraw some into his shell, preparing for the attack. He grit his teeth and shut his eyes as the ground started to shake under him violently but he himself was hardly dislodged or even moved from the attack. When the shaking was over he drew out his head and opened his eyes.

"And the battling begins. Both these Pokemon are showing off their high defenses today! Giga Drain misses the mark on Camerupt and that earthquake seemed to do little to no damage at all to Torterra!"

"Alright good job. Now use leaf storm!"
"Tooor..." Growled the large Pokemon. The leaves of it's large, bonsai-like tree started to glow a brilliant green. From the tree a fury of leaves shot up into the sky and then curved and shot straight for Camerupt.

[Rikugurl]

Axel blinked... then put his hand over his face. Duh. He should of known this attack wasn't going to do any good. Houndoom however...
He shook his head and looked out, seeing the leaves grow and fly into the air. Axel could only smile.

Well, at least he wasn't the only idiot on the field today.

"Burn them."
He put calmly and the ox nodded, stomping his foot into the ground. The pipes on his back suddenly erupted, small balls of lava shooting up and scorching the leave on impact.

"Alright, not more playing around! Charge and use Lava Plume!"
"RUPT!" The ox grunted before suddenly dashing out at a rather high speed. Axel said Camerupt wasn't a fast pokemon... but that was in comparison to his others.
"RUPT! RUPT!"
As the pokemon did a mad dash towards the grass pokemon, his spouts blew more lava, shooting it into the air. Some of it landed back on him, covering him with the hot liquid as more shot out towards Torterra.

[Reno]

Terra wasn't really surprised when then leaves were burned away but Torterra made a noise of unhappiness not liking the blatant obliteration of plant-life. It reminded him of the forest fires he sued to see when he was a Turtwig... before he got caught by Terra that is.

As the Camerupt started to charge and explode lava all over the place though the Pokemon shifted uneasily.
"Safeguard!" Terra called. "Hold it up as long as you can!"
"Tooooorterrr!" Cried the Pokemon the protective clear ball covering him again. Seconds later lava hit it, sizzling loudly.

[Rikugurl]

Axel growled at the order. He was hoping Terra wouldn't hide behind that for every attack he throws. Terra didn't seem like that kind of trainer... but he knew that Terra knew that any fire attack would be devastating... and was going to draw this out.

"SLOW DOWN!" The redhead called to the other red animal. The ox grunted but slowed his pace, still shooting out ball of lava but more sparingly, having more fall down onto him then on the protective wall.
That shield couldn't last forever.

Axel watched it like a hawk and the second it started to fade.
"GO FOR IT!"
"RUUUPT!" The ox quickly shot forward, more lava pumping out over the grass pokemon before he SLAMMED into Torterra, covered in lava.

[Reno]

Terra's eyes narrowed at Axel's next order realizing what he was doing. "Tch, shit." He grumbled, watching the Camerupt as it slowed it's pace. "Torterra keep it up!" He encouraged.
"Teeeer..." Growled the large Pokemon, struggling to hold the shield up. But it was like holding up a tall building. Sure it was okay at first but pretty soon it just starts collapsing on you.

"Teeerra!" Cried the Pokemon as the shield fell and the lava started to hit him. Then he felt a strong slam that sent more blazing back on his left shoulder. His body barely moved an inch though, not even the slight ice on the ground helping to move his massive form.

Terra grit his teeth angrily. "Torterra get him away from you, hurry!"
"Tooooor..." The Pokemon moved his head to the right... and then swung hard to the left. He caught Camerupt hard and sent the Pokemon sliding backwards, getting lava on his head. The grass Pokemon grunted, shutting his eyes. "Teeeer...."
"Hurry use frenzy plant!"
The Pokemon opened his eyes and nodded, raising his front two legs before slamming them down. The ground shook hard... and then giant roots shoot up from right under Camerupt and sent him flying into the air.

[Rikugurl]

The blonde girl sighed, her eyes becoming sad. That Torterra was such a nice Pokemon... she hated to see it get hurt.
"Come on Torterra!" She called out once more.

The ox grunted before he felt a sudden swing and went shooting back, his hooves sliding on the snow.
"Rupt!" He growled as he dug them in to stop himself.

Axel growled, gritting his teeth as he saw his pokemon slid but at the next order, his heart raced. "Cam---"
"RUUUUUUUPT!" The ox shot up from the ground from the roots.
"USE LAVA PLUME ON THE GROUND!"
"RUPT RUPT!" The flying... fire pokemon cried as more lava shot from his stacks, hitting the ground and burning some nice holes in it that quickly filled with lava.

The poor ox fell right into one...splashing lava all over.
The crowd gasped before a very angry pokemon struggled out of it, wobbling a bit. Covered in lava and rather pissed off, the eruption pokemon grunted and stomped his front hoof angrily.
This was perfect... and Torterra still had to pull those roots out before he could move again.
"Camerupt! Use Eruption!"

"RUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUPT!" One more slam of his hoof and balls of lava started to shoot from his spout in a fury, going high in the air and turning into huge balls of lava as they joined, all falling down towards Torterra quickly.

[Reno]

Torterra watched the large camel go flying, wincing a little as he smashed with a big splash into one of his volcano-created lava pools. He knew he must of hit the ground though the way he crawled out of the pool and wobbled some. His heavy weight dragged him down too far. He didn't look happy at all. "Terrr..." He growled in apology.

He was just trying to make his roots recede when the next attack was called. Eruption? That didn't sound good.

Torterra raised his head slowly as lava went flying into the air. Definitely not good.

Terra grit his teeth, taking several several steps backwards. He knew his grass Pokemon didn't have enough time to draw back in those roots and protect himself with safeguard - no time. So held just have to make a shield. "Torterra, use those roots and cover yourself! Then draw yourself in!"
"Teeeeerra!" Cries the Pokemon in acknowledgment before he drew the long, fat roots up higher in the air and curled them as best he could over his body like a makeshift shield. Then like his master asked his slowly withdrew his more sensitive areas of his body in.

There was a sizzling and a splash some of the balls of lava smacked into the roots. They exploded upon contact good portions splashed back onto the ground - but the rest burned right through the roots and splattered along Torterra's shell.
"TOOOOOR!" Cried the Pokemon, both in pain and anger as burns appeared on his shell and tree, feeling the heat.

[Rikugurl]

The redhead swallowed as he heard the cries from the gentle giant. Unfortunately, Eruption couldn't be stopped until it was over, until enough lava escaped the pokemon to calm him down. Axel had to learn this the hard way when he almost burned a village down. Luckily Vaporeon was there to wash away the lava quickly before the ox released any more.

However, Axel had planned this out right. He already made Camerupt use plenty of lava in the last attack and cover...so it shouldn't be very long lasting.

"RUPT! RUUUUUPT!" The enraged pokemon continued to stomp his feet, more lava shooting up and pouring down onto Torterra until all the roots were completely burned... and what made those green eyes sadden as he saw the tree on the pokemon's back burn to a crisp.
This needed to stop soon before it ended up like Jolteon and Metagross.

Moments later, the red pokemon grunted, the lava stopping as he let out a sigh.

[Reno]

Houndoom, who had carefully wanted back to his master's side of the ring, watched the attack growling unhappily. "Hooow!" Cried the dog as his friend was attacked and cried in pain. He whined thought when he saw the incredible damage the top of the shell took.

Terra's eyes saddened as well as he saw the tree burn down, gritting his teeth angrily as he reached for the dinosaur's Pokeball. This was bad... He knew what was going to happen.

Once the lava stopped falling Torterra shifted out of his shell and looked back seeing the damage he took. The minute he saw his missing tree though... "Tor...? Teer....." He looked towards the Camerupt then back at his nonexistent tree.
".... TOOOOORTERRRRRRRRRRRRRRA!" The Pokemon yelled out and... burst into tears. "TOOOOOOR!!!"
"Hooow!" Houndoom cried at the loud sound, lowering his head.
Terra flailed his arms nearly falling over due to the massive noise. "TORTERRA CALM DOWN IT'LL GROW BACK!!"
The large Pokemon just continued to cry. Terra sweatdropped, blushing a bit in embarrassment, but he couldn't blame Torterra for being upset. He had been just as unhappy when he lost one of his trees as a Grotle due to a vicious wind attack a Pidgeot had created.
The brunette trainer sighed and ran onto the field much to everyone's surprise, hopping over lava splashes and puddles carefully. He'd probably lose a foot if he stepped into one of those.

He stopped in front of the Pokemon wincing at the other's yells - his voice had gotten a hell of a lot louder when he evolved. "Hey!" He snapped, reaching out and patting the other's head.
Torterra stopped crying, looking up at his trainer with sad eyes. He leaned over and started to talk to him softly, murmuring things no one really heard but were obviously comforting.

Sora watched the procession curiously from the bleacher and he smiled slightly, even though poor Torterra was so sad... Terra certainly knew how to try and cheer him up. It didn't even matter to the brunette he was showing off his nice side in front of an entire audience.
Roxas' eyebrows furrowed. "Amazing he isn't such a cold bastard as he tries to pull himself off to be."
"Roxas!" Sora chastised and smiled. "Of course Terra isn't he loves his Pokemon a lot, even if he pushes them hard."
"And this is certainly an interesting turn of events!" Said the announcer. "It appears Terra is trying to calm Torterra down after it's loss of it's bonsai tree in that eruption attack made it depressed!"

"--- .... and in a year it'll be back and more beautiful then ever okay?" Terra murmured and smiled. "Feel better?"
"Teeerra~" Said the large Pokemon, smiling.
"Good... wanna keep fighting?"
There was a shake of the head. He didn't want to lose his whole shell too!
Terra nodded, not surprised by the answer. He had given up the battle against Pidgeot too. He was going to have to work like hell for the next year to regain Torterra's confidence again. "Alright. I'll get you to a center soon." He gave the Pokemon one final pat before recalling him. He returned the ball back to his belt and made the careful trek back to his side of the field, turning to face Axel again.
Houndoom whined worriedly at his side and Terra chuckled, petting him on the head. "He'll be fine don't worry."

[Rikugurl]

"Waaa!" The girl cried as she saw the Torterra crying. She bit her lip and sighed, shaking her head. The blue eyes glanced over to the twins, seeing that they could feel his sadness as well.

Axel could only bit his lip as he saw the large pokemon start to cry. Camerupt just grunted and rolled his eyes as he looked around slightly at all the people giving him angry looks.
WHAT!? He was ordered to do it!

Axel saw the with call and sighed. He really felt bad but... this is what he had to do. He would have to apologize to the gentle giant when he came back from the center... and maybe give Terra some tips on how the tree could come back even more full and luscious.

Terra only had two more pokemon left. Flygon and Houndoom. From what he could tell, Camerupt was doing alright but he was sure his legs hurt from that fall. He wouldn't be able to dash as quickly anymore...

[Reno]

Terra sighed as he reached for Flygon's Pokeball, ready to take this match back into his own hands.
"How!" Barked the dog next to him. Terra paused and looked over at him. The dog was glaring towards Camerupt, looking vengeful. Torterra and Houndoom had always been good friends... because they both respected plant life. The devil hound wasn't like some fire types he liked to burn stuff just for the fun of it. And anyone who disrespected his friend... was going down!

Terra chuckled, hand falling from the Pokeball and he nodded. "Alright Houndoom go ahead."
The dog howled in triumph and rushed onto the field, snarling at the camel.
"And folks Terra's fifth choice is his Houndoom, who had won him a quick and stunning victory on the ice field! Axel better watch out for any stray flames because, as legend goes, if a Houndoom burns you that burn will never heal!"

"Alright Houndoom go right for him!" Terra called.
"How!" Growled the large dog before he charged forward for the camel.
