Many fairytales start with 'Once upon a time....' but some have gotten creative over the years - sometimes going with a traditionally chronological, 'Long, long ago in a far away land...' or maybe if you wanted something instantly magical you tried 'Legends tell...'. Other times they could start with a mystical 'Many moons ago...' or even at times a simple eternal 'Before time...'
But sometimes... fairytales just began. They had no notion of time or no knowing of when the tale truly had begun.
And this... is Fairytale with no true beginning. This was one of those stories.
T-
"Sora!! You're going to be late!!!"
"WAH!" Sora jumped from his desk, pen dashing across his paper. He looked down, seen the thin black line now slashed across the paper, scarring the words but keeping them, thankfully, readable. "MOOOOM!" He whined. "I was in my writing zone!!"
"Well you're going to be in the grounded zone if you don't get down here and get to school!"
The brunette glanced towards the clock mounted on his wall. 7:44. "Oh shit!" He jumped from his desk, tugging his pajama shirt over his head, throwing it messily on the bed, pants and boxers finding their way there as well. He had spent his morning writing again!
"Got to stop doing that." He told him, slammed closed the dresser drawer, throwing on some clean boxers and a red shirt. He was just getting on his pants when he heard his brother yell up, "Come on Sora! We don;t have all day!"
"I'm coming I'm coming!!" The brunette yelled back, yelping as he fell on his ass. He tugged up the jeans, arching his back off the wood of his floor so he could get them onto his hips, and hurried through buttoning them.
He got to his feet, stuffing them instantly in his shoes, grabbing a pair of clean socks. He'd get them on in class. He dared sneak a peek towards the clock, horrified. 7:48.
He grabbed for his backpack, unaware it was upzipped and as he yanked it uo, the heavy contents within fell out, sprawling all over the floor. "SHIT!"
"SORA HURRY UP!"
"I'M COMING!" The brunette cried, dropping to the floor as he started shoving things back in his bag, not caring how crumpled and destroyed his things were getting. After a monentarily pause he threw the socks in as well, zipping up the bag and dashing from his room, slinging it over his shoulder. The slam of his door echoed across the house.
He came to the stairs, jumping onto the railing and slid down. "Whoo!!" At the end he jumped off, rushing into the kitchen.
"Sora, I told you a million times NOT to do that."
"Sorry mom!" He said, grabbing his toast from the table, the two other pieces that had at one time been there gone, his brothers already had eaten. He leaned up, giving her a sloppy kiss on the cheek. "Love ya!" He rushed past her and took a glance in the living room seeing his dad reading the newspaper. "Bye dad!"
He hurried to the front door were two other teenagers were waitign, one with his hands on his hips, the other with his arms crossed, both giving him identical looks of annopyance. Of course it wasn;t hard for them to manage such a feat since their faces WERE identical. Twins.
Triplets actually.
"Finally!" Roxas complained, rolling his sharp blue eyes as he snapped open the door. "Thought you had drowned or something." At once all three took off from the house, running quickly for their school. It was a mile off. A mile they now had to cover in less then 7 minutes thanks to SOME people.
"Ah shut up sleepwalker." Sora said back, his breath jumpy. "You guys didn;t have to wait up and you knew it."
"Pff and let mom badger us all night about how we aren't EVER supposed to go anywhere alone because the big mean criminals will steal our souls?" Roxas joked. "No thanks."
They were... the Holani Triplets. Famous because they were the only ones BORN triplets in their town. The eldest was Sora (full name Soran) - he was a very strong-hearted boy with a forgiveness rate that probably outshone God's and a smile that made even the toughest person relax. He was the most different phsyically from his brothers. He had wild brown hair that spiked and shoot out in a multitude of directions and his face was still chubby from baby fat. His limbs were more lanky and thin compared to his other brothers, but thanks to his hair he appeared maybe an inch or so taller then them both. He didn't seem like a big brother type...
Personality wise he was cheerful, optimistic, selfless and VERY protective of his friends He was someone anyone with bad intentions could easily take advantage of. The brunette was really kind and ever helpful to others... but at times absent-minded and even as Roxas sometimes said 'lost in his own fantasy world'. He was terrified of needles after having to get shots from being bitten by a rabid dog when he was about seven and he loved to make make smoothies but sucked at cooking. When Sora grew up he wanted to be a teacher and a writer for children. He adored kids and sometimes even offered to tutor some of the first graders on days he didn;t have too much homework or anything planned with his friends or brothers.
Ever since highschool had started though Sora couldn't help but feel different. Like something BIG was changing. And maybe it was going beyond suddenly not sharing a room with his other brothers - they couldn't help that though. they were all getting too BIG to share the one small room they had shared for over 13 years and their parents finally yet nervouslly agreed that yes one of the boys needed their own room. It was given to Sora, mainly because they wanted Ventus to keep a close watch over Roxas and his sleep-walking issue and Sora was a hard sleeper while Ven was not. Rather then being thrilled by the prospect the three brothers seemed to hate the sudden sepration. Even now at 15 he was still unable to get used to the fact he was waking up in his room all alone.
Speaking of Ventus, he was the second born of the Holani triplets. He like his other brothers, had a very short temper at times, but his bad mood seemed to shine out more then anyone's. He also had quite a mouth on him. He and Roxas used to look perfectly identical - a round face with blonde hair and a petite body. However Ven, annoyed by being called 'Roxas' half the time, had started growing out his hair and putting the untamable mess into pony tails while Roxas let his swirl upwards naturally, getting it cut regularly. This way EVERYONE could tell them apart.
And Roxas? He was the baby of the three. He seemed to share qualities with both Sora and Ven - like he had a light and a dark side to him. Sometimes he was chipper and helpful like Soran, soemtimes he was snappy and bitchy like Ventus. He also had an air of sarcasm around him most of the time. He was practical and rational and, like Ven, shared certain leadership qualities that their eldest didn't quite have. It wasn;t uncommon for him or Ven to be called on as captains during a good game of Air Ball.
He wanted to grow up to be a singer but was incredibly shy and had a horrible case of stage fright. He was actually very jealous of sora who could get up and give a rounding, beautiful speech in front of there english class without looking at his notes even once! - and yet when he got up there he was a nervous wreck of shaking limbs and stuttering words. Singing was his passion though... he just wished he could do it without anyone LOOKING at him.
He also was allergic to roses - Sora was too but Ven had wisely never tried to find out for hismelf. And finally... Roxas was a sleepwalker. Now, normally that was too tragic - but he had NEVER grown out of it... and it terrified his parents so much because one time, when he was eight, he had been having a dream out flying...
and jumped out of the two-story window, breaking his leg. It had been a real bad way to wake up.
He like Sora hadn't liked to sudden seperation of rooms. He knew they were too big for the space anymore... but it still didn't seem fair. He and Ventus got into all sorts of arguements all the time and now Sora wasn't there to break them up. Even after two years... it still seemed weird waking up with only one brother there to say good morning to while the other just seemed to be getting farther and farther away...
Sometimes he worried Sora was going to slip into his 'fantasy world' ... and never come back out.
His shoulders tensed a bit, feeling like he was being watched and bright blues eyes, eyes that each twin shared, glanced towards the shadowed trees of the circling forestry. Nothing was in sight. He shuddered uncomfortably but brushed it off.
The ringing of the school bell rang throughout the town - but they were close enough to hear it... and realzie all three of them were quite late for school.
"DAMN IT SORA!!!"
He ducked his head as blue eyes glanced towards his hiding spot, growling deep in his throat. The ringing of the bell quickly drew the youngest's away from his area and the two brothers yelled in fury at the third for making them late AGAIN. "What is it... the third time this month?" The watchful spy spoke with himself.
He watched as the twins safely made it inside the school before dashing further into the trees, feet barely making a sound as he rounded to the back of the school, hidden well by undergrowth and the shade of the trees. He found his old spot, grass flattened by many, many hours of resting there, and laid down, having a perfect view of the school, his ears twitching to better his hearing - even if it was already top notch.
It was a good thing he was hidden, because anyone who saw him would be horrified. He was a wolf-like creature with large, muscled legs good for running on and sharp, black claws that curved like snake fangs. His facial shape was simple for the most part - a long snout with a black, wet nose at the end and rows and rows of sharp, deadly teeth hidden behind lips. His eyes were a deep gold color. Horns protruded from the temples of his head like bull horn's. Triangular dog ears shot up top his head. His body was long and heavy looking, covered in thick black and brown fur. Along his spine was... what looked like several scars as if something had once been protruding from his back that was no longer there. His tail was long and thin, almost as if someone had shaved away all the fur, and slinky like a snake's body. His name was Terra.
He heard the cracking of bark and the being glanced up, seeing a silverette perching himself on his old spot. "Where is Axel?" Terra asked, lips pulled back to reveal his fangs but mouth never opening or closing.
It didn't mean much of course. If Axel was there or not. Nothing had happened ever since the trio had taken on this job... and it had been two whole years since then. The most 'momumental' thing that happened was the triplets had been seperated from their rooms. How tragic. But the Majesty PROMISED something was going to happen soon...
"Wake up young Shapeshifter."
Eyelids fluttered open, noticing he was sleeping upon his stomach but no longer was he resting on the grass of the cemetary... In fact he wasn't sure where he was. The area was cold and damp and dark and for a moment he thought eprhaps he had wandering into the mining shaft once more but even down their, trying to escape the hot, hot desert sun, the area had only been mildly cool.
This was COLD.
He got to his paws, growling softly. "Who has spoken to me?"
A glowing light appeared in the darkness, floating over to Terra's snout. "I did." The squeaking voice said cheerfully.
"A... speck of light is talking to me." Terra said, his voice dull. "Wow, what a dream."
"No, No. I'm not a speck. I'm the king of the Universe."
The wolf was silent, then his jaw opened and he laughed uproarishly. "You MUST be joking."
"Terra of the Tellus clan, Atterian by birth - the race of Shapeshifters, but bloodline forever cursed by the Holy Goddess when his father did unspeakable acts upon other worlds and species at times wiping them out to extinction. Now you are trapped within your shape-shifted form and unable to change back unless it is a blue moon. You are unable to gain back full control your human-side unless you complete the prophecy she had revealed to your father but of which you never learned."
Terra's jaws snapped clsoed and he was very quiet. "Who are you?"
"You may call me Mickey if you like. And I... am here to help you."
"Help me?" The wolf growled, looking away. "That;s a first."
"You want to break the curse... do you not?"
"...Yes."
"Then... allow me to speak young wolf."
He should of known all those years ago that there was going to be a catch. Mickey promised to help him break the curse but ONLY if he helped complete another task first. And now here he was, two years later and still watching over these three brats with his 'lackeys'. That's right, the Majesty had named him leader of the three but he had a feeling all three of them had been promised things to be corerced into such a terrible position. After all... his partners weren't exactly godly... or NORMAL either...
There purpose was rather simple really. The had to watch over the Holani triplets and protect them from any danger. Now, at first all of them had been specticle at watching voer three... seemingly normal children. But Mickey had explained it well.
"This is Soran, Ventus and Roxas." The speck of light explained to the three surronding him. In the center of the speck's body was a picture of the three twins racing across town towards an arcade. "They are called Shee. The Shee to be technically correct. Or... in laymens terms fairies. But the Shee are different from normal fairies. A drop of a Shee's blood alone in a spell could increase the destruction level of it ten-fold. The reason they are nearly extinct is because 13 years ago a war had erupted. The Shee were being slaughtered and their powerful magical blood used for evil purposes that was spreading destruction all across the universe."
"A mother of three and a good friend of mine came to me one day, close to death and begging me to take her new born children soemwhere safe where they would not be found. I abided by her dying wish, transporting the three to a planet secluded far away where I hoped no one would ever find them, leaving them in the care of a woman name Bryna and a man named Sirocco. I made them swear to securacy, telling them to never reveal to the three who they really were so they could grow up normally... and happily."
The light seemed to dim, almost as if it was sad. "However, not too long ago, something terrible happened. somehow word got out. The villians who had destroyed the Shee to begin with got wind of the fact that there were still three alive and are now searching to destroy them as well. Except this time... the plan to use the blood for something so terrible I am not even sure of their plans. I need them to be watched over... and you three will be their guardians. you must protect them with your lives... or it will be the doom of the entire universe."
But sometimes... fairytales just began. They had no notion of time or no knowing of when the tale truly had begun.
And this... is Fairytale with no true beginning. This was one of those stories.
