yeah... i fuxxored my computer... i rebuilt it in a shiny new chasis (again... 3rd rebuild... but i've been drooling over this chasis for months... and it was on sale!!) and in the process of moving it from the table where i was working on it back into my room, clumsy Jobiwon posessed my body, and it took a little tumble... everything looks alright... but nothing works... it doesn't do anything... the fans spin and the lights (the oh so very many, much too bright lights) light but either the processor's fragged or the ram died... can't tell which (not sure which would be worse... DDR went up this month... but if i get a processor i'm getting the fastest one my MoBo will support... i think it's 3.6 3.2!! it's not worth the extra $70 for only 200 MHZ!! i'll just replace what i have... if the processor's the problem... have to check the specs...) so for the next week at least i'm limited to my UNIX machine at school and my dad's Laptop when i'm home... or my bro's POS (which, while i did build it, it was corrupted the second he touched it... i don't know what he does to his machines but they never run as well as mine...) i won't be buying any parts till after Otakon (this weekend!!!< does a little dance... falls down and breaks both his legs>... damn u clumsy Jobiwon!!!)
edit: oh... the reason for me typing this... TSK.. i'll be off COH pretty much untill i get this fixed... the laptops a POS and won't run it!!

well... it's official... it's not the ram... that would have made it cheaper... i tested it with a stick of ddr 400 from my bro's comp... it's either the processor (which looks fine) or the MoBo... either way it's gonna cost me around $200... <sigh> unfortunately, i have no way of testing which one it is... no other comp in the house will run my processor... and no other processor in the house will run on my mother board... i can't even get my files off the hard drive cuz it's more advanced than the other machines... why?! why must i be the most technically inclined person in my household?! why am i the biggest geek on my street?! maybe my new neighbor will have a decent machine... he's rich and doesn't seem all that bright... maybe i could convince him, not only to let me borrow his comp to test my processor, but to pay me to do it!! he's about as dumb as a stump... living off his girlfriend or fiancee or wife or whatever she is... with no discernable talent or skill... i could easily hack his computer and stop it from working... then put up posters advertising my "pc repair company" Jobiwon Computers Inc.

i'm sorry i confused u miss reno... and thanx... i'm feeling better already... i got the laptop set up so it's easier for me to use now and everything's a lot better... and i'm keeping myself as busy as i can so i don't have time to not be on my comp...

well... that whole not going insane thing might be about over..... doom 3 came out today... and i don't have a machine to run it on!! i've been looking forward to doom 3 since... since doom 2! and now that it's out, the best comp in the house is dead!!

well... my father's going to front me the money for a new MoBo and processor (he claims both are dead... tho he has no proof...) but he is insisting on putting it together... at this point i don't know whether to be gratefull or insulted... but i agreed to let him pay for it... i guess he still sees me as his fuck-up son... i'm kinda pissed... but it'd be a full month or more before i could afford to buy anything myself... even so i'd much rather not be indebted to him... i had built that comp for the entire reason of discharging the debt of my previous machine (which i took great satisfaction in handing back to him in a pile)... i thought i had finally earned his respecft... he had come to me a couple times with computer problems... ones that he couldn't fix that i could... i think this time i'll swallow my pride and let him lend me the money for the new parts... and build it... tho that hurts more than the money...

well... i'm back up and running!! just a wee little upgrade... not much really... 8 channel audio and 1mb L2 cache (tho i doubt that means much to most of u... suffice it to say it's a good thing  ) same processor speed and same basic motherboard style... a few minor differences... but all in all i'm back to my old machine... prolly the happiest i've been in weeks! |
