after about half an hour, the rookie controller approched Dac. "hey you! you're a ranger, aren't you?" he turned from his drink and looked at the guy. "yeah, i'm a ranger. what do you what?" "ha! some ranger you are! can't even tell that i'm a controller! i'll kill you right now!" the novice pulled his sword and sunk it into the bar. Dac stood at the other side of the room. "tsk, tsk. you shouldn't attack like that. it leaves you wide open." he smiled and walked out of the bar towards the third district. "don't tell me how to fight you punk!! get back here!" he recovered his weapon from the bar and chased after Dac who was waiting for him in the third district.

Mirray heard a noise from the third district. she turned and looked at her dad but he was already running towards the noise. she ran up and alone side him. "what do you think it could be dad?" leon frowned. "heartless, they always attack the third first." the jumped over the second border and laned on the rooftop. leon ran to the edge with mirray and they both looked down. they saw Dac and another in the center. the other man was holding a sword. Mirray was going to jump down but leon put his hand against her stomach. she looked up at him and he nodded. she stood there and watched. why didn't her dad let her fight. leon stood there and crossed his arms ready to watch the fight.

Dac assumed a defensive pose as the Lunato prepared for battle. "now, we can fight. show me what you got rookie." he lunged at Dac with a wide slash. Dac simply stepped aside as he ran by and went to knock his feet out from under him but was blocked by the sword. he was mildly surprised as he jumped back to block a strike from the sword. Dac danced about his opponent with mild amusment. the young controller was getting frustrated and he let out a yell as he leaped at Dac with all his might. Dac deftly spetted aside and brought the blade of the Lunato to rest in his opponents back. "you see. i told you not to fight like that. it leaves you wide open for a counter attack." the blade on the Lunato disappeared as he strode toward the second district.

a crystal heart arose from the man's body. he had killed him. suddenly leon grasped the air and the heart flew to him. he took it carefully and pushed on it slowly till it turned into a little ball. he pressed it against his necklace and it absorbed through. Mirray blinked. "what? why did you do that?" leon looked at her. "you shouldn't let hearts go, esecialy ones of a controller. they only go out and infect another person with a dark heart. I take them and imrission them in the lionheart. when they turn good again, that's when they are set free." mirray smiled and nodded. "i see." she watched Dac walked away. "so i'll be doing that? killing people and leaving their body there to rot?" leon shook his head and frowned. "you will kill and leave their bodies, but they don't rot. they turn into shadows and scurry away, don't feel bad mirray."

Dac went back to the pub and sat back at the bar in the same seat he sat in before, ignoring the deep gash in the wood. everyone was looking at him again, but he just didn't care anymore. he sat for a good hour or so before he got up again. it was almost time to meet Mirray.

Leon and mirray walked back to the house and aeris and yuffie returned to their own home. rinoa sat on the chair near the window and hugged mirray. "i am going to miss you so much. i might not see you again." mirray hugged back tightly and started to cry. she didn't want to leave. she loved it here so much. leon walked over and put his hand on rinoa's shoulder and nodded. rinoa let go and wiped her tears. there was a knock on the door. leon frowned and opened it and let dac in. "it's almost time to go dac?" leon asked.

"yeah. we have to rest a little before our patrol. traveling between worlds is tough on the body. i'll meet you under the statue of Sephiroth." he turned and left leaving the family to finish their goodbyes.

leon nodded and watched Dac walk away. he turned to mirray and smiled. "here, since thsi might be our last time seeing eachother, i want you to have this." he took off the lionheart and placed it around her neck. she blinked and started crying. it was her dad's most pressus item. the necklace that helped him battle and such. "dad, i can't..." "shush honey. you need it more than me." he pulled her away and wipped her tears off. "it's my gift to you. and when i die, i want you to have my gunblade. two blades are better than one. i already desided the future of the blade and it shall be yours and only yours when i die, ok?" she nodded and sniffed up her tears. leon kissed her on the cheek and smiled. "go now, i love you." she nodded and hugged his for the last time. "bye daddy." she walked out of the house and he closed the door. she sniffed and took the necklace in her hand. she then closed her eyes and focused on the statue. when she opened her eyes, she was there and Dac was waiting for her.

Dac saw Mirray and approached her. he assumed his lecturing tone to make sure she was focused. "try not to do that so much. it stresses the body." he lightened up a little when she groaned. "are you feeling better now?"

she frowned and stood. "i can tell that you've never had a female ranger." she burst out in tears and ran back to the inn and into her bedroom, locking the door. she jumped on the bed and burried her face in the pillow. the FOWh started to hymn again and she took it out. another shadow ran across it. she grew angry and threw it across the room. "stop it! you stand for the hearts, not shadows! you ruined my life already! i hope your happy!" the tears fell on the floor and she gripped the lionheart.

Dac was completely confused. he had gone and done this for her. and she was upset. he didn't understand why she would be so upset. she was right though. he had never even been around a woman before. besides his mother. he didn't know how to act. he felt really bad about making her cry like that. but he didn't know how to make it up to her. he decided to leave her alone for a little bit and find an answer to his dilema. he had the Lunato tell Lytol that they would be late getting back and to get someone to cover their shift.

she continued to cry on the pillow. suddenly the lionheart started to shine and she looked down at it. a crystal heart broke out and floated around the room. she stood up and opened the window and it left. she watched it go into the sky and disappear. she blinked and sat there for awhile, just watching the stars.

Dac scratched his head as he walked around town. he still didn't know how he was going to make up for what he had done. wait! the old man! surely he could help. he rushed to his friend's home and knocked on the door. "come in." after Dac told him about it, they both just sat there thinking.

she just watched the time go by and she started to fell bad. it wasn't Dac's fault. he didn't know how to talk to girls. he wasn't warm like other men. she sighed and picked up the blade and stood it up right. "i'm sorry"ooc: ok, night!

Dac remembered hearing someone say that men are the worst at knowing how to deal with a women. he didn't know anyone else, so he went to Leon's house. when he got there, both Leon and Rinoa were surprised to see him. he explained the situation to them and they both just laughed at him. but were happy to give him advice.
