Dac didn't know what to do. he'd never had to comfort a girl before. "well, if you just sit here and cry about it, you never will. you have to at least try. even if you don't master the sword completely as a living weapon, you can still use it as much as you can. come on! we gotta go get some supper."

She sighed and stood up. "thanks for the comfort." she sighed and walked past him. she walked into the hall and saw a few other men. she walked to them and hid her tears. "so where is supper?"

Dac thought he was doing horrible. and maybe he was. he thought maybe he'd never know for sure. "it's over at the pub. let's go. c'mon Dac!" Meron called for him in a loud deep bass. "i'm coming! just wait a moment." when they got there, everyone was, of course, staring at them and their unusual weapons. Dac and the others were used to it, but he didn't think Mirray would feel the same.

she sighed and wlaked with Dac to a table and sat down. she sat down and looked at the table. some guys were talking about her but she didn't care. she got her stuburness from her father. she looked back and then down at the food. she wasn't hungy. she might pick at some bread but that was it. she sighed and didn't look at Dac.

Dac looked at Mirray. she wasn't eating. and she looked sad still. with afull mouth, he said. "aren't you going to eat?" he quickly swallowed the remainder of food in his mouth. "you'll need your strength. we don't know when we'll be fighting." she didn't say anything. "what's the matter?"

She stayed quiet. she didn't want to say anything. her father told her never try to speak if you have nothing to say, so she remained quiet. the men around the table were eating like pigs. she frowned and and turned. she just wanted to be held. he father always held her when she went home. she ment everything to him and he ment everything to her. she'd have to watch him die. she couldn't do that. she couldn't let her father go. he was the knight of Traverse town. he went through so much. he deserved to be here, not her.

Mirray looked up and took his hand. "i want you to eat. I'll be fine." she looked at him and could tell that he ment it. she sighed and nodded and walked out with him. some men snicker. "you knew were they're goin." they laughed to themselves. Mirray rolled her eyes. "as rangers, they don't have much manners." she said to him in secret.

he opened the door for her. "i know. a lot of the rangers who were chosen after the great war have no manners. but they are good fighters. so they are tolerated." he shrugged it off. "many people have no manners these days. you learn to ignore it." he turned to look her in the face. "what is wrong? something has been bothering you."

She sighed and shook her head. "nothing, i'm fine Dac..." she looked down at the ground as she walked. she didn't want to be here. she wanted to be back at Tribalamb, her home. she looked up ahead,"where are we going?"

"i don't want to loose my father. he means everything to me. i don't want to loose my mother or.......Irvine either. I didn't know that i would live forever. if i knew that, i wouldn't have joined. FOWH might have chosen the wrong person. i'm not good enough for it. it shows me evil and dark things in it's blade. i don't know what it's trying to tell me."

"i'm sure that the FOWH has some plan in mind. i was chosen for a purpose. so were you. and those who have purpose must make sacrifices." he thought for a second. "what do you mean the FOWH 'shows' you things? shows you visually? how?"

She sighed. "it reflects things in it's blade. i can't make them out yet, but they are dark. maybe it's the furure or something." she sighed again and held dac's hand. "i just don't want to be alone, i don't want my father to die. he has done such good things in his life."

"you will never be alone. as long as i am here, you will never be alone. besides, everyone has to die sometime....even rangers. so you won't live forever."
