This is a story I am writing. I am going to add it chapter by chapter as I get it finished. I want to ask that you don't post more then once perupdate. If you want to make a commits on the path to a new beginning thread then that would be fine with me.
Chapter 1
A father memento and a new life
Death is a force that is unrivaled in this world. We all die in our own time. However when a life is destroyed by the hands of another then that life was stolen before that persons story could be completed. This is where my story truly began.
I had been away for a month on a fishing trip. It was my job how my family ate. I never went fishing again, I had no reason. When I finally returned my home was gone. Burt into a pile of blackened wood. My heart instantly sank. A tear formed in my eyes as I sprinted towards the ruins, my very essence became overtaken by an unimaginable fear. Upon reaching the destroyed town my fears changed into horrid facts. Every should in my home lied lifeless on the ground. Their bodies piled in a blazing inferno. My friends, family all gone. I couldn't thing rationally. "who did this." I yelled in a infuriated voice.
I spent the next hour crying at the fire. Finally when I was capable of rational thought I started searching through the rubble that I had once called home. Little remained in the charred remains. Depression started to set in and I started to wonder why I should even bother. Just as I went to the door something caught my eye. A blue glow seemed to e emerging from below the ashes. I touched it with my right hand and I received an electrical shock that tossed me across the room like a child’s doll. Stunned from the shock I rested in the corner. What could have generated such a force? Curiously I slowly approached the glow. I dug around the strange light searching for any clue as too what this mysterious glow could be. Finally I found a buried sword handle. Deciding to use it as a spade I lifted it from the dirty ground the light also rose. When It had been completely removed from the ground I shockingly discovered that the strange glow was a sword. Peering into the sword shaped hole that I pulled the sword out of I discovered its sheath. Resting on top of the sheath I found a note. After examining the note I learned that it was from my father. It read, Darth, while you were gone our town came under attack by the dark knights. We won't survive. This sword was mine when I was a Mercenary before I met your mother. It is enchanted with the power of lightening. When used you'll shock your foes. Be aware this sword is capable of shooting lightening to stun an enemy. Use it well son. Remember we loved you
Love, Jecht"
Quietly I put the sword in its sheath as I carried it out the door. I became engulfed with sorrow.

Chapter 2
Depression to hate
I had spent many hours sitting on a hill overlooking the black abyss which I once called home. My face had become sticky from my salty tears. The village didn’t really bother me. I intended to move out of that scumvill of a town after I obtained the money. The pain I now carried was that of a lost love. My family had been massacred. Their life’s stolen, and for what? Simply to line the pockets of a few rouge knights?
With that thought lingering in my mind I quickly became irate. I felt my depression began to slip away, to change. For the first time in my life I felt hate. I now despised the Dark knights.
Turning away from the blackened pit I dragged my feet moving away from the remains of home. Confused I walked down the road which lead me towards the port that I returned from hours ago. My mind consumed with thought. “What can I do?†I thought as I wiped another wave of tears from my eyes. Plagued with questions which had no answers I continued to think of my recently executed family.
After slowly walking for about an hour I reached the cross roads. A sign sat upon a post informing travelers which road led where. I gazed at the sign reading and remembering. To the north lied the merchant town of Tolech. The eastern path led to a savage wilderness full of horrid creatures that would eat you rather then simply ignore you. The west led to the mountain regions where numerous villages awaited thousands of money hungry miners in search of gold. Finally to the south lied the remains of the massacred town of Gallian. I drew my father’s sword and the second it cleared the sheath the blades glow of electricity returned. Recklessly I rested the blades on the sign pointing towards Gallin. The sign violently burst into flames and fell upon the dirt path. I watched as the flames burnt away that chapter of my life. When the flames faded into nothing I slumped against the signpost. I watched the charred sign. I remembered seeing that sign only hours ago. The joy it brought me was intense. Now it joined its town as nothing but ashes and shadows of what once stood firm.
Reaching into my pocket I grasped a piece of paper I had forgotten about. Quickly I jerked it out of my pocket. A fresh set of stick tears poured into the paper. The paper contained a picture of my family. My wife Miranda and my son John. Holding the picture close to me I quietly sobbed. I cried for how long I am not sure. I passed out on the path next to the signpost.
When I woke up I didn’t remember what happened. However when I opened my eyes and saw the crispy black sign on the ground it came back to me just like a loyal cat. I climbed to my feet and rubbed my eyes. My face felt sticky. With a heavy sigh I walked to Tolech.
I arrived in Tolech at noon. My stomach twisted in hunger. It became obvious that the tragedy didn’t affect my appetite. I walked in to a café and concealed myself in a corner. I sat reading an abandoned news paper when a waitress arrived at my table. “May I take your order?†The waitress was young. In fact there was no way she was older then sixteen. While she waited my response she smiled. “I’ll have bacon and egg.†I grunted as I read the paper. Eagerly the waitress hurried the order to the back. When the meal was completed she brought it too the table with the bill. I paid the bill and quickly devoured the food. After my meal I moseyed over to the bar. I listened with intent for any information leading to the dark knights. The Bartender spoke of a guild for mercenaries at the corner of town. I realized that I had to try and start over. I thought that this guild might do the trick. I rushed to the guild and arrived with in a mere moment. When I got there I talked to the man at the gate. He replied only with hand gestures as if he was mute. He pointed to a bench and nodded. I strutted confidently and plumped down. Once I settled in the mute man retreated into the building. A few moments latter he returned with a rugged looking man. The man smiled and spoke in a firm voice, “This is my guild why should I admit you?†Smiling I drew my sword. It started glowing. The glow shocked the man. In a calm voice I said, “Because my father was a member.â€

Chapter 3 The guild
Life in the guild kept us working. The company had numerous faults. However I contained my own secrets and secrets meant faults.
my complete loathing of the dark knights morphed my personality. I burned with anger when I thought about them. Every day I felt my anger expand a little more. Only the demise of other permitted me to continue life. Day after day my heart froze a little more and my thirst for revenge grew. After a few months I gave up on like itself. I didn't care anymore. Only the feeling of despise lingered in my soul.
I fought other kingdoms battles in return for gold. The gold would pay for more weapons as well as the grime I called food.
This life style left only a never ending pit in my cold heart. I fought to live and I lived to fight. Stealing the lives of other took a whole new meaning. Treating every man I slaughtered as if he was personally responsible for the destruction of Gallien. Revenge with all of its demons now strangled and imprisoned all the morals I once possessed.
While the time spent at the guild served to fuel my hate it allowed me to hone my skills as a swordsman. I continued to spill the blood of others, I only hoped that one day my killing spree would lead me to battle against the dark knights. The owner of the guild assured me that one day it would.
Henry owned the Mercenaries guild. He always wondered around attempting to appear important. However he had become more of a figure head then anything else. You see fatigue reared its ugly head and this old man couldn't fight in any longer. True when the guild had just formed Henry destroyed numerous foes with out breaking a sweat. Unfortunately time changes things and Henry was no exception. The senile old man received his cut of our money and continued to live. He never caused a problem so we tended to ignore him.
A month passed and I started to obtain armor then enhanced my fighting ability. A big job would arrive and I'd be first in line to volunteer. The more I fought the richer my bank account grew. I saved and scraped my gold coins until I had enough gold to purchase the armor of reflect. I strutted down the streets and with my head held high I entered the pawnshop of Tolech. I entered the damp shop and observed the usual sights. Bear traps hung from the ceiling. I gazed at row upon row of swords m shield and armor. Grinning I removed the armor of reflect from the dusty shelf. The armor appeared as something a clown would wear. The shoulder plates were a stunning yellow and the chest plates were a hideous orange. However the armor itself could hold up against any normal blade. Also it held with in itself the ability to reflect any magic attack used against its wearer back upon the caster of the spell. This can be done up to three times a day. That ability alone made the armor more then worth while. I took the armor up to the counter.
The owner of this pawnshop seemed to be rather poor for owning all of the item that were collected in this shack of a pawnshop. He grinned with delight as I approached the counter. I couldn't help noticing his front teeth. The man also smelled of rotten cabbage.
I plopped the multi-colored armor in front of the mess of a man. "I am going to buy this now," I barked in a commanding tone.
The overjoyed pawnbroker quickly scribbled a receipt. Once finished he smiled a toothless smile and I shaky voice mumbled "Very good sir, your total is forty-five thousand gold coins."
I tossed a bag of coins to him. Then I removed my armor from the counter and I turned away towards the nearest exit.
"wait!" the Shop keeper yelled. "You have forgotten you change. "
I continued to the door and then I paused. Without turning around I replied, "use the change to buy some cologne." Laughing at myself I retuned to the guild.
