OK...who ever said that Final Fantasy VIII had a dark story...I should seriously punch them in the face!
I believe it was either Kingpin, Robby or Gradd...maybe even Mike....but whoever it was...i thinmk they need to side track ya? Every FF game except Final Fantasy VIII has had a dark story!
Note: This examples are simple so don't look for exact names or what not.
Final Fantasy VII - The planet is dying for an Inc. is sucking energy from the earth. The Inc. is also createing monsters from this energy. An Ancient read about his past and believe that he was the ruler of the planet, killing anything in his path to gain back to power of his mother's people.
Final Fantasy IX - black mages were made to kill off the real mages. Some of the character's families were killed and what not.
Final Fantasy X - Quoted from Seymour, "Spira is a never ending spiral of death" need I say more? A summoner must die to keep up Spira's hope.
Final Fantasy X-2 - A shadow's hate comes back and steals Spira's most powerful machine. Spira's most beautiful forest is disappearing. The shadow's hate is for Spira for him and his lover were killed in such an awful way.
I've played all these games and...i think the 4 above are pretty damn dark. ;D
