The silverette was still silent as the brunette continued to talk, the wind still blowing their hair softly even if some places were damp than others. Even the clothes they wore were torn here and there due to the damage that was given. They had to pull it from the rumble of their home the best they could. Everything they owned was lost and only a bit could be spared, boxed away and put into safe keeping at their parents house.
Pale hands left the small tree and palms were faced up, sore, sleep deprives eyes looking down at them. "I could of killed them all Sora... I....I could of killed Kairi.... Tidus.... Wakka, Selphie.... my mom.... your mom..... your kids....and mainly....you...." His eyes closed as he slowly stood, the wind blowing his hair more now as he looked out at the mainland, also seeing the fires and people working on rebuilding some houses that didn't make it.
Items were hung up on wires that were put up aimlessly. Photos and paintings, clothes and shoes... all hung up to dry as people, whose homes had been untouched, swept out the water on their floor. "There's no way I can make things better... not after... the things I've done..."

Sora sat there quietly as his fiance talked, but as he did the look on his face turned from sad, to ponderous to something close to angry. "Now wait JUST a second Riku." He looked over at the other. "Now I might of been messed out of my head for awhile there, but I distinctly remember it was ME who was messing with Destiny's ball... island thing around NOT you! This-"
And here, Sora waved his arms out as if to indicate all of the small world. "This is my fault. Not yours." He sighed, as if this was a conversation they had had many times before. "And stop saying it's hopeless Ri... we can make up for the mistakes we made! We can make things better because that's what we are; we're a team."
He looked down at his hand, running his thumb over the gold band before looking towards the other, smiling weakly, holding out his left hand to the other. "That's what this thing means you know?"

The silverette sighed as he continued to look out at the ocean, he too making it look like they had talked this over many, many times. "But I was the one who threw it to make you chase after..." The tired eyes slowly looked down at the brunette then down at the ring. It seemed to shine and the camera slowly grew closer to it. It too had some damage and wear on it... but it was still as beautiful as ever.
The camera pulled away once more to show the two overlooking the main land. There was even a clear shot of a woman in a pink dress walking down to the shore and waving over a small group of children who had sketch pads in their hands. Behind her a ways was a few men working on putting the brick buildings back together.
Riku slowly looked away before reaching into his pocket, pulling something out. His hand slowly moved to Sora's and took it gently before placing the item onto Sora's palm. His own engagement ring. "It's over Sora..." He said softly, the expression on his face looking as if he was about to break down crying... but only tears ran down his cheek as he turned and slowly started to walk away. "I can't do this anymore..."

Sora waited in silence for Riku to respond his tiny smile still struggling to stay in place despite the tension between them. His expression turned curious as the other started to shift and his smile turned more true and happy as the fingers ran over his own, the touch gentle and caring as always.
At the sudden weight in his palm though he blinked and looked down... seeing a familiar small gold band sitting there. His eyebrows twitched, confused... but as Riku spoke his short yet final words, everyone could see how quickly they made the brunette's heart break.
He was so stunned he stopped breathing as his body froze completely in place, not even twitching as Riku got up and left. All he could do was stare at for many long, long moments at the small little engagement ring that symbolized trust and love and connection. No longer...
After a week of having lost him, his whole self collapsing so far down sometimes he refused even to leave his room and more weeks struggling to keep the dying relationship going, throwing his whole being into restoring it all... it was... ending?
His blue eyes started to shine as tears gently overflowed them. "No..." He whispered past trembling lips, fingers curling around the ring as a soft sob broke through. He grit his teeth and jerked his head to look over his shoulder, seeing the still retreating figure of his lover, already far down the beach. "RIKU!" He screamed, suddenly on his feet and running so fast he seemed to blur.
He was upon the other in seconds and his hand reached out, grabbing the other by the wrist and for once disregarding using any sort of kindness in his touch as he YANKED Riku backwards and spun his body to face him once more. He glowered up at the other, shaking all over. "Over?! OVER?! How can you say that?! How can you... you...." The brunette grit his teeth, his trembles growing worse as all sorts of emotions spilled from his heart. "Riku... you can't just END us! You love me! I LOVE YOU!" He shoved the ring under the other's nose, his hand shaking so bad it was sliding around on his skin. "T-Take it back you idiot! Take it back right now!!"

Riku continued to walk down the beach, the wind whipping up his silver hair as the tears on his face shifted over his cheeks. The calling of the seagulls above and the sound of the waters crashing on the shore was all he could hear, the silence behind him deafening.
He wasn't even close to the shallow edges of the ocean where a boat was tied up and bobbing in the water when he heard a scream. His face seemed to twist but he didn't look back, the tears being pushed down even more. His eyes widened though as he was suddenly jerked back and turned around, his long hair falling into his face.
His tired eyes looked away uneasily as Sora started to pour his heart out, his own lips having a hard time from shaking as salty tears ran across them. He looked down finally at the ring that was right under his noes and swallowed. Slowly his hand reached up and... pushed the ring away. "I won't.... I won't take it back!" He cried back as his hands started to shake.
There was another moment of silence between them before he let out a shaky sigh and rubbed his face with a pale hand. "Sora..." He choked out softly. "I do love you.... I always will but... there is no way... I can't think of happiness... when the world we grew up in... is nothing but splinters and hopeless hope because of....our actions. We're both suffering Sora... and we both know that.... I'm not as strong as you... I take a lot longer to...accept things..." He took a shaky breath before pulling his hand away and looked down at the brunette's crushed face.
"Our nightmares are getting worse... and we don't even share our full link of the paopu anymore... because I broke it to save you... Somehow... I broke the Darkness that we shared so it could no longer reach you..." He slowly looked away and swallowed. "I thought the Darkness was completely gone finally... but I had no idea that it is still very much alive inside me. I still have to keep fighting it and... for once.... I can't have your help this time Sora... I...I just can't...."
He looked back, seeing Sora opening his mouth but his hand raised and stopped him. "I don't want to sound selfish Sora... I know I always was. It was always about me.. and my stupid fucking pride.... but... I'm doing this for you.... for us.... so that someday...we really can get married. When our paopu fruit tree becomes ripe, we can share another paopu... live together again and...have that pet you always wanted."

When the ring was pushed away, the brunette looked ready to scream. As the other spoke his contradictory piece, he looked to punch him. But as Riku finished his argument Sora's expression changed to something few had ever seen on his face before.
Defeat. The heart in his chest shuddered with pain as the hand lowered, holding the ring tight. From neither his heart nor mind, there were no word left, none he could find to say... that would make the other change his mind. He'd fought a million battles in his life and won - this was one of the great few... he couldn't.
Dull, tired blue eyes looked up at Riku as if the others very words had sucked away his life. He smiled yet their was no mirth in it "Okay Riku... okay fine you win..." His voice was choked. "If this is what you need... then okay."
He looked down at the ground, laughing even though his tone was wrought with pain. "I'm still just... glad your alive. I suppose... t-that's enough for now... I can't keep fighting a battle you won't let me win."
"Know that... I love you Riku and I'm always going to be there for you... when you want me to be." His shaky hands slowly pocketed the ring and then he yanked off his own looking up at Riku. Like he had for him, the brunette grabbed the other's wrist and laid the small band in the other's palm. He looked up at the other, murmuring, "Whenever you decide not to take on everything alone... come find me. When you're ready... propose to me again."
He leaned up, giving the other a soft kiss on the cheek. Sora pulled away, turning his back to the silverette and started to walk back down the beach hands folded over his hurting heart as tears continued to fall as he gave Riku exactly what he asked for. Gave him something that thousands of times during the years before the grumbles went ignored, the pleas went unheard and the shouts fell upon deaf ears.
He left him alone.

The tired ocean eyes looked down at Sora, seeing his expressions and a hint of a phantom feeling... of hurt and... His eyes widened a fraction as he heard the brunette, seeing that smile and.... understanding his words.
He swallowed as his hand was taken and the ring was placed in his palm, still listening to his lover, his own face full of sorrow, his own heart breaking at the words. Aquamarine eyes closed slightly as the kiss was placed on his cheek and then... Sora was leaving.
Silver hair blew in the winds that were picking up, making the strands tickle his nose but he did no laugh, did not pull them away...did not budge. What he did do though was look down at his palm, seeing the ring he had given Sora that night of their anniversary... The ring that was absolutely priceless. The ring that he feared would meet his hand once more.
Drips of water slashed down on the fine ring. No, not rain. Tears. "So Sora..." A soft voice whispered. "You still won..."

The heartbreaking scene slowly faded away... only to be replaced by something much more violent.
A fist swung in the air, connected with Riku's cheek with such force the tall man stumbled back until he slammed into some cupboards nearby, the items within rattling loudly.
"What the FUCK is wrong with you?!" Screamed his assailant the camera turning to face the furious Roxas, so angry his cheeks were red. Behind him, Axel was lifting his hands towards the blonde as if to stop his oncoming rampage while Xio whined and whimpered by the door, ears flattered against his head. He didn't like seeing his master's lover like this! It was scary!
The blonde trembled, ignoring his boyfriend's soft pleas to calm down behind him. There was NOTHING left to be calm about. "Just when I thought you were an okay kind of guy Riku... just when I was getting to really like you and want to really be your friend... you pull some SHIT LIKE THIS!! What the FUCK is your problem!? Do you seriously having that MANY fucking screws loose?!?!"
The blonde grit his teeth shaking his head. "How... how DARE you hurt Sora like that! All the fucking things he's given you when you never even deserved it! And look at how you repay him!!" His body gave another tremble and he pounced towards the other, looking ready top bash his face in. The only thing that saved him was Axel who managed to wrap his arms around the furious man's waist and hold him back.
"YOU SON OF A BITCH!" He screamed at the silverette. "Do you even REALIZE what kind of hell he went through when you died?! Every day, every god damned second he was talking about you, thinking of you, crying for you! And what do you do when you finally get your ass back here? You fucking BREAK his heart all over again!" The blonde hissed hatefully, "Even after all these years... I still don't know what he sees in you. Right now Riku to me you aren't worth fucking dirt."

A groan escaped the silverette as he hit the cupboard and winced, slowly back up. His teeth showed as he growled, wiping some liquid from his lips as he felt it fall over. It was blood but he didn't seem to care at the moment.
"Roxas! Settle down! Come on!" Axel called as he carefully rushed around the table, frowning some at the whole situation. He was finally able to wrap his arms around his lover and pull him back, his weight advantage making it easy for him to haul Roxas off the floor and back a bit as he continued to spat at the silverette.
"EXCUSE ME!? Who the fuck you you think you are!?" Riku yelled back. "Mr. I don't give a fuck if you're suffering as long as I see my lover! Don't act like I'm the only one who fucking... HURT Sora! You almost killed him for that pansy of a man!" "HEY!" Axel's eyes narrowed as he growled at the silverette over Roxas's shoulder, not minding Xio's growing whimper.
It was clear that Riku and Roxas never got along... and them arguing never helped anything either. "You have no fucking right to get in our damn business and you have no fucking right to come here and fucking hit me! I KNOW the pain he's been through and it fucking breaks my heart but I'm not going to let him suffer with me every day until I can overcome... this Darkness for the last time! I CAN'T be happy like this... with these..." He opened his shirt a bit to show the tattoos. "I CAN'T bring Sora down anymore!"
He looked away and panted. "I beat him down with my Darkness..."
Axel's eyes narrowed more, the look on his face one hadn't seen since he was in the Organization. His mouth opened, about to say something---
"BOYS! Enough!" A woman's voice stopped them all and slowly looked at the door frame to the right, seeing a woman with silver hair looking at them all. "There will be NO fighting in this house." Carina stepped into the room and glared at each one of the men, including her own son. "I agree that this isn't the best time for things like this to happen but it is certainly not the best time to be yelling and arguing."
She turned to Roxas and Axel before sighing. "As leaders of Delshad, I hope you understand that Destiny is in a time of crisis and ruin. No one is in their right mind of thought and much is still left to be done. Houses need to be built, food needs to be salvaged, fresh water must be restored. People are without shelter, children without proper utensils for education. People need their space to breath and relax, to collect themselves now or they will be forever lost in a mud of their own creation. I will not have this kind of tension in my home... I will not allow it."

Roxas' blue eyes went wild at Riku's words especially at his the shots he took regarding how he hurt Sora and even worse the ones he took at Axel. His body trembled in his lover's arms as he scowled. A low growl echoed from his throat as the others words continued, feeling the red-head's arms tightening around him tensely - but this time out of anger.
Before anything could be done however a new voice jumped in, the three turning to face the woman. Instantly, like children, they quailed a little, but at the end of her words Roxas frowned some more glancing back at the red-head. He shut his eyes and sighed though he was far from calm. "There are never 'good' times for arguments, Carina." He murmured softly, taking the red-head's hand. "But we shall leave."
He tugged the other with him. Xio, a little more hopeful, got to his feet, tail wagging happily at their approach. He was just fine with leaving. The red-head knelt down, petting him on the head before opening the door and walking out, the lion pouncing at after. Roxas followed after, but hesitated in the door frame.
He looked back, straight at Riku and his look wasn't exactly hostile this time, just... pitying really. "Riku, you were it. Sora could push away me, his friends, even his own parents... but he'd always let you in because your hearts have always been connected. No matter if it dragged him down or not he didn't care... because he always wanted to be with you." He shook his head. "When you said 'I love you' to him you weren't just expressing an emotion... you were making an oath to him and I think somewhere along the way you forgot what it was." Roxas grabbed the doorknob and started to step out the door, uttering these parting words:
"I'll give you a hint - Why does a circle never end?"
The door shut.

Aquamarine eyes stared out at the door as it closed, his mother sighing as she shook her head and left the room. Silver hair slowly fell in front to the man's eyes before he pulled it back behind his ear.
"Why does a circle never end?" The question rolled off his lips before he sighed, the scene slowly fading.
The Room of Echoes was silent not only because of what they were seeing... but because the scene continued again.
The silverette was seen hunched over a wooden desk, his hair wet from obviously just getting out of the shower. There was a calendar behind him, showing a date that some thought to be false. It wasn't even the same year as the memory before. Had so much time passed... and the two lovers were still not together?
A lamp flickered on, the sunset making the world darker and darker by the minute. The silhouettes of the outside made some hope run through some of the viewers. There were more houses built and finished, more structures up and from the look of things, Riku seemed to be helping as well with his hammer and nails nearby.
"Sora..." The camera seemed to shift back to Riku as the man spoke, slowly reaching to a wooden box that had Sora's name encrypted in it in gold, a small crown under it. Slowly the box was open, showing the ring that was given back to him in the memory before. The ring was gently pulled out and it started to shine under the light of the lamp.
Ocean eyes saddened as he studied the ring as if he had never seen one before, feeling the curves and reading the inscription in the band. Now and Forever.
His eyes suddenly widened as he pulled the ring away and looked at it from afar. He traced the shape of the ring slowly before his lips parted. ""Why does a circle never end?" Roxas's voice could be heard throughout the room. There was a pause and then--- "SORA!!" The chair flipped back onto the ground as the silverette shot up and pushed the ring into his pant pocket before rushing out of the room and down the hallway.
He passed the kitchen where his mother was cooking, making her look back. "Riku! Where are you going!?" "SORA!" He called back and that was all his mother needed to know as the front door closed. A soft smile ran over her lips as she sighed happily, turning and continuing to work on some food.
The man rushed down the dirt street, passing some others who were just finishing up their last bit of work before their wives called for dinner. He turned the corner and came to a rather small home down at the end, near the hill to get up to the cemetery. It was a home very little knew, but it was Riku and Sora's temporary home before they moved to the Kilika District. The home where Riku couldn't sleep seeing that there was no sounds of waves nearby.
He stopped at the wooden door and was about to pound on it when he stopped...and started to knock. The evening wind picked up his silver hair, making it blow slightly in the breeze as the door slowly opened.

There was a flash on the screen as time went backwards somewhat, but this time, the audience was seeing Sora walking through the small but very empty house, fingers reaching up and flipping on switches to light the way as the sky outside started to darken. Though the house was full of all things expected to see in the small shelter - chairs, tables, dishes, a bathroom, a kitchen a bed room - there was something unsuspectingly lonely about it.
Everything from the small bathroom to the bedroom... spoke signs of only one living within. Only one set of dishes, one toothbrush, one side of the bed rumpled, one side of the couch indented. He was... living alone?
The brunette sighed as he flipping on a small table lamp sitting on the mantle of the tiny fireplace, all the picture frames sitting atop it turned face down, as if the sight of them had been too painful to bear. The keyblader walked away from them, picking up some papers laying on the small coffee table and a clipboard before crossing the room to a window seat that overlooked the backside of the house. He settled down in it, curled his knees so his feet rest against the opposite wall. The lights of the sunset were brushing warmly against his skin, giving it a healthy tone to the tanned skin.
The laid the clipboard on his legs and placed the papers atop it, looking the first page. The handwriting was scratchy and poor but not completely illegible, the words that went from line to line short - no longer than four letters. Taking his red pen, the brunette started to grade them, his movements more mechanical than anything.
Half way down the page his hand, in the midst of correcting katt to cat - hesitated, fingers shaking slightly. Sora's blue eyes had gotten unfocused, his hand raising tentatively to touch his chest were his heart was. "....Riku...?"
He said there for what seemed like forever, hardly moving from his position - but it was no longer than a minute or so before knocking started to echo in the room, starting Sora so bad his whole body jerked. The clipboard noisily clattered to the carpet, 29 papers making a whoosh as they painted the ground and a red pen landed on on of them, making a thin red splatter of ink across the white and blue lines.
But the brunette didn't care about any of this. His eyes were staring wordlessly towards the front door on the other side of the room. The knocking continued. "Ah-!" The brunette seemed to realize he was meant to ANSWER it as he jumped from his seat, dancing around the mess he had made to the front of his house.
His fingers wrapped around the doorknob twisting it open tentatively before slowly pulling it open, the expression on his face both hopeful and afraid, as if he knew who should be on the other side, but was afraid of being wrong.
The door swung open slowly, revealing the softly panting silverette on the other side, his hair gently swaying in the wind. The brunette stared quietly, his blue eyes even wider as if he couldn't believe what he was seeing. "R....Riku....?"

The camera shifted, slowly showing Riku once more as he looked down at the brunette who had opened the door. The light in his eyes...started to come back as a soft smile appeared over his lips.
There was a static that went over the screen, suddenly showing a picture in black and white and the viewers quickly understood that these were older memories.
A bottle of shampoo, a stick of deodorant and some fresh fruit were placed down on a counter as quick fingers started to push buttons on the other side. A total came up on the screen and pale fingers started to reach down into a deep pocket as the woman on the other side of the counter started to put the items in a paper bag.
Dull eyes looked up, suddenly widening as a familiar spiky hair man walked through the door down one of the isles, a little bell ringing as he stepped through. The long hair man quickly looked away and placed a large gem on the counter before taking the bag. "Keep the change." He spoke quickly before hurrying through the closest door and out into the street.
A soft sigh came from him as he shook his head, slowly walking down the street back to his mother's house. The camera showed where he was going as he turned but oddly enough, the scene seemed to blend into another one as Sora started to walked down the same road towards the camera this time.
Twenty nine children were behind him, holding each other's hand as they watched their steps. "And here are some great guys helping to rebuilt our mainland." Sora indicated as he looked up, making all the little ones look up as well. "THANK YOU!" "PLEASE FIX MY HOUSE FIRST!" "I WANT A PINK ROOM!" The children called up to some of the men hammering down on a new roof. Some of the men looked over and laughed, waving down at the kids. "We'll see what we can do!"
However, there was one man who didn't look over at all. One with black tattoos all over his body and his silver hair sticking to his hot back as sweat ran down it. He just continued to hammer away.
The black and white scene scratched away, revealing a memory still very full in color and continuing from before.
"Sora..." Riku started as he slowly looked down and sighed. He slowly walked closer and suddenly wrapped his arms around Sora's neck, pulling him into a tight hug. Tears slowly ran down his cheek as he buried his face into the soft brown hair. "Sora... you are my whole world... The only world I ever really wish to always see.. from morning....to night....and everything in between."

"Uh-huh?!" Sora started to answer at the call of his name but broke off in an exclamation of surprise as he was tugged into a hug. The brunette stood there, eyes wide and full of confusion as he was folded against the other's body. As the other started to speak though, his blue eyes lightened.
Slowly his own arms wrapped around the other, bringing him closer still as the smaller buried his head in the other's neck. The smaller man took a deep breath and blew out gently, the air brushing along the others skin. The other shivered against him, making one side of Sora's smile turn up further before he slowly pulled out of the embrace. "I already knew that Riku..." The brunette murmured softly with a kind smile, raising his hands to cup the others face, fingers brushing away the falling tears.
The brunette's smile fell a little, as he ran a finger through soft, still wet silver hair. "But as much as I'm glad you're here, you still left. You have several months of hurting me to make up for - so you got to give me more than that Riku. Something more permanent." He wasn't being cruel, not in the least. Anyone could see from the way the brunette stayed so close, his fingers lightly and tenderly touching the other, he wanted nothing more than to bring the other back into his life. He had simply been hurt badly and was feeling scared and insecure. He needed something more.
"So?" The other murmured softly. The unspoken question went unheard to Riku's ears, but it could be seen in the brunette's eyes as his thoughts echoed in the memory. Will you never leave me again? Answer me Riku.

The silverette swallowed as Sora pulled away, feeling a bit uncomfortable and awkward as he towered over the other. His eyes closed however as he felt the gentle hands on his cheek, the wet tears being washed away and then slowly his hair shifted as the fingers ran through his hair.
His aquamarine eyes slowly opened as he heard Sora speak and slowly looked down at the brunette once more, listening to his words. The question that seemed to hum through the scene seemed to reach Riku as well, his eyes closing before he reached up and pulled some of his loose strands of hair behind his ear, revealing the row of rings and in the first hole, a piece of a paopu fruit earring.
Slowly the taller man fell to one knee, so abruptly that it made Sora cry out slightly and stumble back... to he was jerked forward gently as Riku took Sora's hand. His other reached into his pocket and pulled out the circled jewelry. "Sora..." He spoke softly before gently and slowly slipping the ring up Sora's ring finger to an indentation that was still there. The ring was a perfect fit... and looked absolutely beautiful as the twilight light wrapped around them.
"Sora Holani... will you marry me...?"
