Reunification

[Jade]

Tenks gave her a stare suddenly " Huh... Kairi... Sora...?" those two names suddenly clicked... something about that girl made him walk towards them that night, something... so familiar... but then that was it... she was... " Shes Sora's Kairi?" he asked suddenly a look of concern on his face.


" I think your jealous!" Kairi teased right back curling around him " but... now... my breakfeast is getting cold so you better eat it!" she pulled hard on his ears without any remorse at all!

Raine started giggling as she watched " Yay!"

[Reno]

"Yep." Selphie said simply, shrugging a bit. "They were like the CUTEST couple on campus and I heard if Sora had stuck around instead of dropping out they would have been voted best couple in the yearbook." she yawned a bit. "But then Sora started acting all weird and ran off and now here he is dancing in bars like a whore." She shook her head. "wodner how much sex he has each week."


"ow ow ow ow ow!" Sora pouted, the pain making his eyes water a little. He pouted. "okay!" He reached around her waist and brought her close suddenly leaning up to nip at an ear. "My breakfast~"

"Uh..." Adan stuttered from the thershold, watching the weird display. "Nope, not gonna ask." He took his own plac e at the table, seeing Kenji just standing there still, staring at the two. "Come on Kenji, we gotta eat."

Iris was too busy staring at the picture a dreamy look on her face. She jsut wished... she could see Riku one last time. but she knew it wasn;t going to happen not after what... what happened.

[Jade]

" He doesnt" Tenks said simply, Sora still had picture of the girl in his house where he slept, much younger looking ones. He didnt know why it didnt hit him so quickly when he saw her in the bar... but now it all just made sense! " Sora doesnt care about having sex or anything like that, he workds two jobs, and the only spare time he has its taking care of his family, that and he never got over her..." he sighed laying flat on his back suddenly spreading out his arms as he stated to laugh " More for me I guess though..." he wondered, what happend last night... he had to find out but right now... he had to get ready for school himself pretty damned soon!

Kairi chuckled leaning into him, it felt so nice... this feeling... she leaned up giving him a faint kiss on the lips then broke away " You can have me later... now eat you..." she grabbed his nose again suddenly preventing him from breathing.

Kenji staggered his way into the kitchen then gave a stare when he saw her " K... Kairi?" his stare was blank and his brother... Sora actually looked happy for once. His eyes then narrowed towards all the food on the table and then more specifically towards his twin who was holding a picture in hand. He grinned walking over behind her shoulder taking a peak " Oh what do we have here...?" he said in an evil voice his hand reaching over to snatch the picture from her.

Raine was the one who was first at the table she had already started eating ignoring all the older people. They could all be so boooooring! Grown ups were so weird at times!

[Reno]

Selphie just shook her head out quietly, lounging against his bed. she couldn;t jsut stay here all day though. "I suppose I should get heading home." he said finally, frowning somewhat.


Sora flailed before escaping her grasp, giving her a teasing raspberry before dashing for the table and his plate. He glanced at Kenji, already seeing what was about to happen. "Kenji don;t bug your sister." He was getting better at this. This discipling thing and beign a 'fatherly' figure. It was hard though at the same time because he knew sometimes they still say him as just a... brother.

Iris jumped when she saw the hand in tight, her fingers clenching around the picture tightly. There was no way in hell he was getting Riku from her! All he'd do was tease her! She sighed in relief when she heard her brother intervene.

Adan looekd around at them all uneasily before taking his own seat. Theyw ere going to have to eat pretty quick if they were going to make it to school ontime.

[Jade]

" I say something wrong?" he glanced over at her giving her an odd stare, then suddenly sat upwards stretching his arms out. As soon as she left he was going to have to give Sora a call, and find out what the heck happend last night! It was definatley his duty as his cousin to find out every last bit and detail of it!


" Yes moooother" Kenji said right back giving a stare of stupidity to his brother then walked around towards his seat sitting down. " Nobody really cares about some stupid picture anyways right? Its probrably just Iris girlfriend... you know the word in school is that shes gone gay." teasing his sister, the best part of the morning when he got up. But now... he had something to work off of!


Twenty minutes later

Kairi was at the sink washing the dishes for everyone, it felt nice helping the family out... she had decided... Sora's family was her family... and it was her job to help them. Sora had been pushing her away for far to long but today... today all of that was going to end. She smiled, and the extra money, she knew that it helped out alot... she herself was currently working at a bank as an accountant, and she knew as a fact she was making alot more than Sora with both of his jobs, and she was still going to school, just one more year and she was done...

" Kairi, can we make cookies today?" Raine asked hugging onto her leg, she hadnt left Kairi's side since the girl had came.

" Of course!" she smiled staring down at her it was great seeing a smile on the young girls face, she knew how hard it must have been... with Sora working as hard as he was. He probrably didnt have time at all to spend time with the young girl...

Kenji sighed grabbing his coat throwing it on, it was just about time to get out of here for school, he grabbed his bag and started for the door.


But little did anyone in the household know a man dressed in a blue uniform, a tall white hat with a golden emblem in the center of it and a stack of awards had just exited the vehicle. The look on his face as he stared at the house was not that of happiness. He sighed taking in a deep breathe then started towards the apartment house. The news he had... it wasnt good not for this family, he had already researched it aswell. They were a poor family who had just lost their father just a few years ago... but now... the news he had would probrably impact them even worse. He pushed his hand forward and the doorbell rang ringing through out the house.

Raine was the first to run for the door she stared giving a weird stare when she saw the man " Uh... wow... shiny..." she said giggling pointing at him.

" Little girl is your mother home?" he asked suddenly

" Uh... mommy is sleeping... she can't wake up." Raine said suddenly then looked back " Sora!! Theres a really really shiny person at the door asking for Mommy!"

[Reno]

After breakfast had been eaten, all the kids went off to get ready for school. Or in Sora's case - for work.

Iris hummed as she tied the blue ribbon in her hair, just like her mother had taught her years ago. It seemed however it would be her who would teach Raine the skill of bow ties in one's hair. She tugged at the point tail making sure it was firm, then brushed off her skirt. Maybe it wouldn;t be so bad having Kairi around. Then that meant she didnl;t have to worry about cooking so much.


Adan was just tugging on a jacket with a sigh, gathering up the books he'd need for today's lessons. He unlike his sublings didn;t have to wear uniforms or anything. He was in college - community college in which his meager minimum wage two to 3 job a day a week was barely paying for. He did his best to help out his own family but Sora refused, absolutely refused, to let him quit school and help out as well.

He said somehting about throwing away his future. Adan didn't udnerstand that but maybe that was because he hadn;t planned out his lfie yet like Sora had done. He didnl;t have dreams that would be torn to pieces...


Sora was just pulling on some socks when he heard his youngest sister's cry. He grew tense, throwing on his shoes and stood. He walked from the bathroom to the front door and grew even further tense. A... policeman? Or... a child's services agent?

"Can I help you?" Sora said, surprised at how cold his tone came out. He stood in front of his sister in almost a protective way, eyes cold as ice.

[Jade]

He stared down at the child hugging onto Sora's leg then up at Sora again " I am Captain Newman of the Marine Corps, I have... news to share with you about your brother." this was the hard part " Is your mother in... your sister said she was sleeping, this is something... that id rather your sister not be around to hear."

Raine pouted holding onto her brothers leg even tighter "Sora... does he know something about Ryten-Nii?"

Kenji had just walked into the room glancing over seeing the man uniform... the hell....? What was a Marine doing here...? That didnt make any sense at all... and he was asking about Ryten?

[Reno]

Sora calmed down a bit when the other revealed who he was. But... the answer he was getting wasn't much better. Ryten... what happened to...?

"Nii-san?" Another voice asked, making Sora look back. Kenji and now Iris were nearby the couch and he could see Adan sneaking a peek from the hallway, all silent and scared.

Sora knelt down, patting his littlest sibling on the head. "Hey Raine me and Mr. Newman have to have a little talk okay?" He kissed her on the forehead then turned her around, giving her a small push back towards her siblings. "Just wait sec okay?"

He straightened as he looked at the captain, and said. "I'm sorry this is going to seem rude not inviting you in but..." He walked past the door outside into the hall of appartments, closing the door to his home soundly. He kept a hold of the knob just in case anyone tried to open it. "There really isn;t a place inside there for us to go and have a private talk. As for my mother... she;s been in a coma for over two years. Whatever you have to say... you'll have to say it to me. I'm the legal guardian here."

He took a deep, steadying breath, then shut his eyes. "Please... don't tell me you came here to tell me my brother is dead."

Adan looked at his siblings quietly before hurrying forward towards the door, resting his ear near the crack of it, trying to hear what the others were saying outside. It wasn;t too hard even though their voices were hushed. He was trying to make sense of the mumbles Sora was making though, as if he was predicting that his siblings would try to listen in.

[Jade]

Raine pouted as her brother pushed her away, she ran forward slightly hugging Iris uncertain of what was going on. " Iris who is the shiny man? What does he know about Ryten-nii? Is he his friend?"

Kairi had just walked into the room looking over at the children huddled over by the door, " Is... something the matter...?"


" Your brother... we havent come to the conclussion that he is dead... not yet... if he is I am gratley sorry for your loss." he sighed this was never easy " Your brother Sergeant Ryten San has been declared M.I.A. Missing in action." he gave the the young man a look " On behalf of all that have served him... I have been sent to speak with you... on his will and preparations..." he held out a sheet of paper on it. " We have already notified his wife but... he also wanted his direct family notified aswell, if anything where to happen to him."

Iris frowned. "someone... Sora;s talking to someone outside." She told Kairi. "He knows something about Ryten..."


"W-Wha..." Sora opened and shut his mouth, falling against the door. Missing in action... his brother was... missing... which meant he was probably...

and- "WIFE?!" He cried. "Will?! This is... This is too much!" He stumbled against the door, slipping down and falling on his ass. His brother... had a wife?

His brother... could be dead.


Adan jumped a bit, the yell loud and clear through the door. His eyes went a little wider. "What about a wife?"

[Jade]

He gave him a stare then sighed offering his hand out to him " You had no idea your brother was even in the military did you?" he shook his head, he had a feeling about this... the people he spoke too Said Ryten had little to no contact with his family, only sending out checks every first of the month and that was about it.

" W... Wife...?" Kairi started forward suddenly " Kids I know you want to knwo but... let your brother talk to the man in private and then he will tell you all later alright? You are going to be late for school!"

Kenji glanced back and galred " Shut up your not apart of this family so don't tell us what to do!"

[Reno]

Sora shook his ehad numbly, taking the hand, letting the older man help him to his feet. "My brother ran off two years ago... he hasn't spoken a word to us since then." He uttered, running a hand through his hair. How could this... be happening? "I... didn't..." He shook his head again, too much in shock to really respond correctly. "I have to get my siblings to school..."


Adan glanced back when he heard Kenji. "Kenji stop it!" He snapped. Sora wasn't going to be happy when he heard about that. Then again his brother always had had problems with authority... that including listening to Sora when he punished him.

Iris just frowned, leaning down to hug Raine. Whatever that man was doing here... it wasn't good news.

[Jade]

He nodded then handed him a few sheets of paper " This here is information on how to contact our family services... and my number aswell, His wife has scheduled a trip to come here and meet with you all... he requested his funeral to be here instead of in japan." he patted him on the shoulder " If you need anything... anything at all feel free to ask."

Kenji grumbled crossing his arms then muttered a few words as he started back, Adan was a fucking brat, and he he knew what was best for him hed keep his own mouth shut!

Kairi gave a stare towards Kenji then down at the ground again... those words really hurt... they were like needles piercing through her heart... she loved this family so much, how could Kenji say such a thing?

[Reno]

"O-Okay... thank you." Sora whispered, mechnically taking the papers. He... diudn;t know what to say otherwise... so he just opened his front door and slipped back inside.

Adan's eyes narrowed on Kenji hearing the doorknob twisting behind him and he quickly moved out of the way as it reopened.

Sora looked up as everyone stared at him expectantly.

"Well?" Iris finally asked.

"Get your stuff I'm driving you to school." Sora said numbly. He walked over to Kairi handing her the paper for her to read. And that was it.

Crying.

Sora handed the women a tissue, struck dead by how beautiful she was. how did Ryten ever...? Her name was Orihime... San. She was a San now... family. "I'm sorry..." He uttered, still sturck by all of this. first thing he knew some military officer was handing him papers for a funeral, the next he had a crying orange-haired girl on his doorstep with the lasdt name of hisa famiyl and a deep connection to a brothe rhe hadn;t seen in years.

"I shouldn;t be crying like this it must be hard for you too." Orihime stuttered.

Oh it had been... but sora had yet to cry about it. He still couldn;t believe any of this was real. He still was tyring to udnerstand that Ryten had gotten married!! and he hadn;t been INVITED!

JACkass. If he ever saw him again the first thing he'd do was PUNCH HIS LIGHTS OUT! It was so... weird.

"It's okay.." He murmured softly, looking away from the woman. Her english was really shaky at times, showing how japanese she really was even though he was pretty sure her ehtnicity was closer to American. His hands curled into fists, glancing at the woman beside his "I... Orihime we don't really have a place for you to stay this... place is really small. Me and Kairi barely fit in it." He explained shyly. "but I could pay for a hotel room if you need me to and-"

"Oh Sora don't be silly." Orihime said, trying to be chipper. "I know you can't pay for it. Ryten told me..."

Sora opened and closed his mouth nodding silently.


In the living room Iris was listening in, her brothers and sisters surronding her and ven Kairi was evesdropping this time. It was... so weird thinking this woman was RELATED to them... so unreal.

[Jade]

It seemed like everyone was gathered next to the hallway there ears pressed close to the wall listening in on the conversation that Sora was having with the Orange haired girl who had married their brother. Kairi was in the center of them, she really didnt get why Sora had told them all to leave, she didnt like it. She atleast could have been there! So instead she eves dropped with all the rest of the kids.

Kenji had his eyes narrowed, the moment Sora had broken the news to them all it seemed like all of their hearts each shattered in unison, a complete and utter silence fell through out the room, and an eerie chill going down all of their spines. Kenji was the first to react, he darted out of the room anger, frustration confusion all boiling up all at once, he couldnt understand it... he just... he couldnt believe it. Ryten... first their dad and now Ryten was gone! It was the same thing... they never found their dads body, they just waited until he was finally declared deceased.

The silence of course was getting to them as they all listened by something quickly broke the silence, Raine darted into the room and suddenly hugged onto Orihime's leg " You know where Ryten-Nii is?" she asked suddenly smiling up at her still not really understanding what Sora meant about him never coming back. She just had that small hope that her older brother was going to come walking through that door and tell her that everything was going to be alright! But... if this lady was her brothers wife then she must be a good person right?

" R... Raine!" Kairi cried walking into the room starting after her, she sighed walking over kneeling down, this wasnt the best of times... " Raine come here... leave the nice lady alone alright?" she pulled at the young girl but Raine wasnt letting go at all

"N... no! Shes seen my brother!"
